Abstract Painting in Connecticut

Visit beautiful Connecticut, just 90 mins outside of NYC. Board the train from Grand Central (to Redding Station), or drive directly to the New England town of Bethel, CT. This picturesque area has historically been the weekend home to many artist's, from the CT Impressionists (J. Alden Weir) to Abstract Expressionists (Grace Hartigan, Rauchenberg, Frankenthaller). After meet and greet, (and wine..!) I will demo my unique method, sharing tips on how to create a successful Abstract painting. We begin by reviewing composition, value, form, color and technique- briefly covering the fundamentals. Then it's your turn to paint-hands on, (with gentle instruction). No experience needed, just interest and enthusiasm. This is not a "paint and sip " program, we don't copy other art. Each piece is uniquely yours! You will go home with (at least) one abstract painting-done in your hand. Ready to frame and hang! Hands-on dairy farm tour

We are Liberty Hill Farm, in Rochester, Vermont! Tours run Fridays through Mondays, at 9 am. Our farm tours are scheduled to coincide with daily chores to allow guests the opportunity to experience daily farm life. Guests will be able to watch the cow milking process and even try their hand at milking! From there, we will explain the journey from cow to milk jug. Guests will learn about the different ages and stages of the dairy cow, from birth through adulthood. We will meet, pet, and even feed baby calves, explore the barns, and meet kitties. Every tour is adjusted to meet the needs and interests of our guests. We encourage our guests to participate hands-on, and encourage questions and ideas! We simply love to share our love of farming and our animals with others! ***All proceeds from our farm tours go directly to our nonprofit organization, Liberty Hill Center for Agricultural Education. *** Other things to note: I only book about a month in advance, so if your preferred date does not appear, check back! Tours will be held rain or shine! I only cancel if temperatures are below zero, so please plan accordingly! It is up to the guest to check weather reports. No refunds will be given for guests canceling the morning of the tours for weather-related issues. We love all animals, but cannot host guests’ pets, for the safety and well-being of our animals!

Make a Handblown Glass Object

Want to try your hand at glassblowing? It is exciting! Make a flower with a curly stem, flower funnel or a straight stemt or an ornament with our help. You'll experience first hand the thrill of working with molten glass and will create a unique work of art from start to finish. I will start with an overview of the glass studio and the glassmaking process and give you an actual demonstration on how to make the item you've selected. You’ll roll the glass in the color(s) of your choice, blow into the pipe, and help shape the piece. After an overnight controlled cooling process, you walk away the next day with your own, one-of-a-kind creation or we can arrange shipping for a small additional cost. Other things to note This experience is open to any one from the age of 8+ If the times available do not match your travel plans let us know to see if we can accommodate you a different day.

Hasidic Brooklyn

To many, the world of Hasidic Jews is shrouded in mystery and secrecy—well, not anymore. On this experience, you get to see first hand the daily lives, rituals, and customs of the Hasidic community, guided by a member of the community and being able to access places seemingly closed off and hidden to the outsider. An opportunity to be able to ask any questions about the Jewish faith, culture, and philosophy. We kick off the experience inside a Hasidic home, and learning about what it takes to keep a Kosher home. Then its off to the streets of Crown Heights, starting with exploring the world famous “770” Synagogue, getting a glimpse into the hustle and bustle of daily prayer services. Next stop is a Jewish scribe, seeing up close the intricate details involved in producing the Torah Scrolls. Followed by a walk down the avenue, visiting the local shops, and seeing the traditions dating back to the early 1800’s. If you don’t see availability for when you would like to join, please message us and we will try to accommodate. The experience will be hosted by Yoni or Mayer. The experience continues rain, snow or shine (just come prepared).

Guests will meet host near the entrance to the Catskills in Palenville, New York. After a brief intro and gear check, well head up into the mountains - with scenic vistas, waterfalls, and pristine summits - there's an adventure waiting - no matter your skill level. Learn about the flora, fauna and geography along the way as you immerse in the best of the Catskills with a licensed hiking guide & adventure photographer. All needed winter gear is included and provided. Hikes range in difficulty from easy to challenging and I do my best to tune to the overall skill level of the group. Whether you're a first time hiker or seasoned mountaineer - I'm excited to share my favorite hikes and hidden gems of the mountains with you. Walk with us through Midtown New York as we retrace the immigrant progress toward the American Dream during Prohibition. As masters of the art of storytelling, we’ll guide you into one of New York's speakeasies where we'll toast to a prohibition cocktail and tell the tale of the period’s most notorious gangsters and infamous bootleggers. Also, we’ll explore the catalysts behind Prohibition and focus on the women of the Gilded Age, and the movement that gave rise to an oil king. To round off our journey together, we'll take you around the edge of Times Square and finally we’ll discuss the demise of Prohibition over cocktails at our last venue stop.
