This is a place that above all speaks to the heart. With its natural and peaceful surroundings, its simplicity of a basic lifestyle, and its transforming energy, it's a gem for those who wish to get away from too much conformity and comfort.
This is something altogether different from the typical B&B scene. This is for the more alternative, back to nature travellers who value a fellow traveller's hospitality, natural beauty and an off grid lifestyle above conformity and comfort. At the same time it is also ideal for families with children because of its big indoor space, lots of beds/mattresses, and its unique opportunities to get in close contact with and discover nature...
The Pilgrims' Nest is situated 35km of Carcassonne in a natural and mountainous surrounding in the heart of the green Corbières Mountains at an altitude of 712m between cedar and beech forests. The air is clean and pure and radiates peacefulness. The place is fed by clear spring water. Electricity is provided by solar and wind power, and nature grows a wealth of herbs everywhere. This is the place to be if you like a quiet, pure and natural environment, far away from the noise of roads and towns.
However, don’t expect a typical luxurious B&B out here, it's an alternative off grid place, a place to fall in love with, if you have the right taste for it... You are invited to stay in a unique 80m² large space of the attic of a renovated barn, where the energy of creativity, music, dance, and meditation lingers from a diversity of activities that are organized here: full moon gatherings, music concerts, workshops... There are several double beds, two single beds, and a number of mattresses with which you can create your own little sleeping corner, dormitory style. Bedding is provided. The bathroom is adjacent to the main house, the shower is in an outdoor wooden cabin which has a transparent detachable roof to give the possibility to shower in the sunshine or under the stars. The water is heated by solar power or gas. There's also an outdoor water tub, the water heated by wood fire. Furthermore there's an outdoor summer kitchen under the shelter, which you can use to do your own cooking, but there’s no electric fridge. An organic breakfast with home made bread is included, and a vegetarian lunch or dinner can be ordered. Wi-fi internet is available but limited and only accessible under the shelter, not inside the barn. Mobile phone network connection may also be limited to certain spots on the property. Note that the nearest shops are in Limoux, 22km down hill. There is no public transport, so your own transport is preferable, or we can eventually come pick you up in Limoux.
Other options include camping in your own tent or in a family tent provided by us.
Apart from a place to stay the Pilgrims' Nest is also a place of inner transformation, exchange and sharing, open to all pilgrims, travellers, wanderers, backpackers and soul seekers on the road, and to all who travel consciously their inner path of evolution. It also welcomes everyone who needs a few days or weeks of rest, reflection or energy recharging. The energy of the place is introspective and highly transformative. It leaves no one untouched.
Attractions in the area are the Cité of Carcassonne, one of the most preserved medieval fortified cities in Europe, Rennes-le-Château from the Da Vinci Code, the hot springs at Rennes-les-Bains, the numerous Cathar castle ruins, a beautiful lake for swimming at nearby Arques, the interesting villages of Lagrasse, Alet-les-Bains, and Saint Hilaire, the natural beauty of the Corbières Mountains and the Pyrenees, and the Mediterranean Sea not too far away.

My name is Eddy. I'm 60 and from Flemish origin, but I live in southern France since 12 years now. I'm basically an eternal pilgrim. My occupation (in the sense of the things I occupy my time with) is a mixture of pilgrim/photographer/musician/nature lover, I like to bring people together, and I'm regularly on the road myself, preferably on my travel bicycle.
