Mike’s Camp is located on Kiwayu Island. One of the many unspoiled, idyllic islands of the Lamu Archipelago and by far the most beautiful for a camp, being one of the most stunningly remote places in Kenya. It is a 10 minute boat ride from the Kiwayu
There are 7 comfortable and spacious rooms on top of the dunes under the Tortilis Acacia trees, with magnificent panoramic views in total privacy, where you are safe and undisturbed. Made by villagers weaving matting from palms, they blend harmoniously into the environment. All have mosquito nets, complimentary towels and toiletries, en suite bathrooms, hand painted bucket showers, flushing toilets and laundry service.
You can be as relaxed or active as you like; Mike’s Camp offers tranquility, water sports, sea safaris and fishing in a uniquely homely environment. Without any pretensions, you can listen to the birds, swim with the fishes and marvel at the beauty of nature.
Mike’s Camp is an eco camp, where water is brought by donkey and power comes from the wind and the sun. The living areas are simply decorated with local art, crafted from recycled, colourful flip flops.
Overlooking the magnificent mangrove groves the sunset bar is the perfect place for unwinding over an ice cold Tusker beer or fresh fruit cocktail. Famous for its plentiful and delicious crab, the menu is a feast of fresh fish, salads and vegetables.
Eat together under the stars, and learn about the mysteries of our planet from our remarkable Mike, or choose to have a quiet romantic candle lit meal by yourself. It is totally up to you.
While an amazing place to just relax, ridiculously romantic and ideal for honeymooners, Mike’s Camp is also great for families and the more active. We have canoes, snorkelling equipment, water skiing, doughnut rides, kite boarding, sand yachting and a sailing boat. We offer fantastic fishing trips with Sailfish, Tuna and Barracuda in abundance, also motor boat or dhow excursions to beautiful remote islands, for picnics of your own freshly caught fish, oyster picking, treasure hunting, swimming with dolphins and snorkelling.
Diving can be pre arranged as can scenic flights and helicopter safaris into the Dodori National Park to view African animals. Walks to the local villages, exploration of the many ancient ruins, or a cultural trip to the historic town of Lamu can also be arranged.
Watch the constellations pass through the star studded skies and lose yourself in time.
Price is full board, 3 meals a day included. Beach and creek 10 minutes walk away.
