We do live in a home that was built 100 years ago -- and as such, is small with small rooms. I believe we are pretty clear about that in our room description. And, I'll admit we are not germ-a-phob clean freaks, but to say that our kitchen was a disaster and unusable is an exaggeration. I don't want to make excuses, but since this review is public, I do want to provide an explanation. As Corey is aware, we had to leave town just before his arrival to take care of a family issue. I didn't deep clean the kitchen prior to leaving, and there may have been a couple of dishes left in the sink, but we have a dishwasher and I typically load it at the end of each day. There were CLEAN dishes drying next to the sink. We did have a pizza the night before and 1 pizza box was left sitting at the end of the counter as pizza boxes don't fit in our garbage can (and like I'd mentioned, we were hustling to get out the door to take care of some family things out of town). We've had our cats for about 11 years, and lived in this house with them for 3 years. Never once have they pooped upstairs. We didn't see anything when we got home, nor did any other guests mention anything. It is possible that one of the cats coughed up a furball -- but unless Corey cleaned it up, I honestly don't know what he would have been referring to.
I'd just like to take this opportunity to mention that we rent out the guest room in our 100 year old small, humble home as an affordable lodging alternative to the tradition hotels in Duluth. We don't intend to be a vacation home, or high end getaway at all.
