I don't usually write reviews for anything, but I'm going to because Dee and Dave were such amazing hosts. I am from California, and I was in the area for business for a month. I had originally planned to stay for just a week while I looked for other accommodations because my original plans had fallen through, but I decided to extend my stay because I loved it here (and they graciously agreed to let me use their washer/dryer and kitchen since I was staying for so long).
From the get go, my flight got delayed and I had problems with getting my rental car, so I arrived well after midnight instead of 10:30PM like I had promised. Dee and Dave were really understanding, though, and stayed up to wait for me. I was greeted warmly and ushered into an air conditioned room (which was amazing because as a Californian, I'm a crybaby when it comes to the east coast's humidity).
You get the upstairs room and bathroom to yourself, so your living space isn't shared. You can be as interactive or closed off as you want; I'm pretty quiet and reserved, but I'm sure they would have been happy to talk to you and hang out if that's what you like! They invited me to watch the Bachelorette with them and even take me out to their favorite Thai place - it was like living with family. They also have a huge backyard with a cute seating area and a pool, so you can chill there if you'd like.
It's also worth mentioning that they have two dogs and a cat, all of whom are very friendly, well behaved, and cuddly. If you don't like animals, you can just run away to your room since they don't really go upstairs (there's a little pet gate blocking the entrance to the stairs).
The location seems random and like it's in the middle of nowhere, but it's actually close to everything. Providence is 20 minutes away, Newport is 40, and Boston an hour. I had a blast exploring all these places on the weekends, and the drives seem short since the scenery is really beautiful. You do need a car if you're going to stay here, though, and a parking space is provided.
Overall, I was well taken care of and really enjoyed my stay here. Thank you, Dee and Dave, for making my time on the east coast so great! You guys are the best!!
