Located on one of the most modern areas of Havana, the Hotel Don Julio is the ideal place where modernity, comfort and the elegance of an old city join together. It is located in the central intersection of Avenida 31 and Calle 10 in Miramar neighbourhood, which occupation began in the early twentieth century with an urban design that has practically reached our days
From its design, the area is distinguished by modernity of a planning that integrates green areas, parks and wide tree-lined avenues.
Avenida 31 is an expeditious highway that, through the tunnel under the Almendares River, connects Miramar with different zones of Havana such as El Vedado, el Malecón, and the Historic Center of Old Havana. This centrality, brings the guest closer to the vast variety of recreative and cultural options found in Cuba’s capital city.
Very close to the Hotel Don Julio, is Fifth Avenue, a major street in the growth of west Havana. It is distinguished by its central avenue planted with high degree of conservation. In its surroundings you can see great exponents of Havana’s architectural heritage, built admirably in a modern landscape, declared Cultural Value Area in 1999 by the National Council of Heritage, due to its historical, environmental and artistic values. Among the main buildings in this area stands the Clock Tower on Fifth Avenue, just in the crossing with Calle 1
Built in the mid-twentieth century as a private residence for a wealthy family, today the Hotel Don Julio excels in the context for its sober but distinguished appearance. Its architecture is eclectic and it highlights
neocolonial exterior elements such as tiled roofs, the arches at the main door and the large windows of French blinds, embellished by natural tones of wood. The visitor is welcomed by a modest lobby with French-inspired furniture, lamps and decorated bronze and crystal sconces that exalt the warmth and elegance of the interior.
Three slender arches provide access to a small humidor room where to taste the aroma of a good cigar, in the comfort of luxurious antique furniture, standing ashtrays, vintage photos and interesting pieces of decorative art.
Continuously to the lobby, a hall of discrete dimensions provides access to the rooms, decorated with delicacy and style. Each one equiped with air-conditioning system and contemporary bathrooms.
The first room has a sober and stylish furniture. Based on lobular bows and brass hinges with spherical patterns, the furniture decoration unifies the assembly composed of a double bed, two nightstands, wardrobe and dressing table with cushioned stool. The decoration is completed with discreet wall sconces and gilt bronze lamps arranged on both sides of the bed.
Advanced down the narrow hall there is a second room, air-conditioned and provided with modern bathroom. In this room stands a beautiful bed with upholstered backrest, decorated with a stylized shell called Haricot or Rognon, distinctive of Louis XV style. Accompanied by this piece, two nightstands with simple lines and a dressing table. The cabinet stands by the discreet golden details and delicate decoration of the mpolished brass handles. The lighting is resolved by small table lamps and interesting sconces of bronze and coloured glass.
The third bedroom, equiped with aircontioning system and contemporary bathroom, also has a Louis XV styled double bed with upholstered backrest, and nightstands with the very design, upon which rest thin brass lamps with lanterns worked with acid and crystal tears. As a complement, a dresser and a wardrobe with elegant design, harmonizes within the group.
Once reached the end of the corridor, the guest or visitor is welcomed in a spacious dining room with pieces of various origins, articulated with particular aesthetics. The eclecticism that prevails in this space is a
hallmark of the interior environment of the Hotel Don Julio, a meeting place with predilection for the refined, in symphony with the ancient and the modern, arrived from many parts of the world.
The main protagonist of this room is a table for eight people with leather chairs.
The decoration of this set, accompanied by tables consoles and showcase cupboard, mimics the stylistic features of the Baroque of Spanish influence with a detailed woodworking and Solomonic elements.
Here, the interior decoration is completed with unique pieces as humidors, chandeliers, lamps, and even an original Singer sewing machine of US origin. All these objects decorate a space that serves as a Bar, with contemporary wooden bar where you can enjoy drinks, spirits and cocktails.
Like any good resting place, the gardens and outdoor areas also seek to ensure the guest or visitor’s welfare.
Separated from the main house, there is a fourth room, provided with independent entrance, air-conditioning system and private bathroom. The interior decor is more contemporary than the rest. The bed, presenting a nowadays design, gets along with a slender wardrobe and a classic wooden desk, arranging a harmonious aesthetics. Modern lamps render this room a graceful atmosphere.
Customers can also enjoy a large garden with visuality to Avenida 31, with seats and tables made by Cuban handcrafters, and a large ranchón of the most typical Cuban style.
RENTER CODE OF CONDUCT
Primary Renters are those making and managing the booking and must be at least 20 years of age, on the date of arrival, to check-into the property without adult accompaniment.
Check-in time is 2PM EST and check-out time is 12PM EST. Requests for early check-in and/or late check-out will be handled on a case by case basis, pending on the availability of the rental property at the time of check-in and/or check-out.
Valid passports of all RENTERS, that is, those whose names are on the VIP2Cuba voucher, must be presented at the time of check-in. Only RENTERS are permitted to stay in the rental property. Should any RENTER listed on the VIP2Cuba voucher wish to invite outside GUESTS into the rental property, he or she must provide the Rental Property Management with the names of the GUESTS before they are invited to enter the premise and are allowed to use the rental properties’ facilities. The Rental Property Management reserves the right to allow or deny the entry of said GUESTS.
All children under 4 years of age, at the time of check-in, are able to stay free of charge when using existing bedding. All children over 8 years of age, at the time of check-in, will considered as an adult.
The maximum allowance per bed is 2 persons, regardless of age. This amount cannot be exceeded. The Rental Property Management reserves the right to change the gender allowance per bed, regardless of age, as per their discretion.
Alcoholic beverage service is restricted to those who are 21 years of age or older, at the time of check-in, with valid identification. Property management has the right to refuse alcohol without valid identification.
The rental property has a zero tolerance policy in which it can refuse to admit or refuse service or accommodation in the house or may remove a person who:
– While on the premises of the rental property acts in an obviously intoxicated or disorderly manner.
– Destroys or threatens to destroy house property, including the property itself
– Causes or threatens to cause a public disturbance
– Refuses or is unable to pay for accommodations or services rendered by the Rental Property Management
The Rental Property Management and owners take zero responsibility should any illegal or illicit activates be conducted by any Renters or Guests within the house and reserves the right to contact and report any such activities to the respective authorities such as the Cuban Immigration and Cuban Police Department. The Renter is responsible for such activities of all persons who are on the VIP2Cuba Voucher, registered Guests that have been approved by Rental Property Management, and any person who does not fall into these two categories but are in anyway affiliated with the Renter and/or approved Guests.
The Rental Property Management may limit the number of persons who occupy a particular guest room in the house, based on the number of beds within and the ‘2 persons/bed maximum’ rule, and has the right to allow only registered Guests of the property to use its facilities. That is, only registered Guests are allowed to occupy or share a bed within the property so long as it does not exceed the ‘2 persons/bed maximum’ rule.
Any person (Renter, approved Guest, affiliate of Renter and/or Guests) who negligently or intentionally causes damage to the rental property, or any furniture, furnishings, and property within the house, shall be fully liable for all damages sustained by the Rental Property Management and staff, including but not limited to the property’s loss of revenue resulting from the inability to rent while damage is being repaired.
All property interiors, including guest rooms, are 100% non-smoking. A $200 CUC cleaning fee will be charged to any guest who violates the no smoking rule.
Pets are not allowed due to concerns that some guests have allergic reactions towards pet dander and due to the threat of ticks and fleas.
The Rental Property Management reserves the right to conduct housekeeping services everyday between the hours of 8:00AM EST to 4:00PM EST at a time convenient to them.
