My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary (2 months early) at Viola's place, and we had the time of our lives! From the moment we arrived at her house, we knew we had made the right choice. This was our first airbnb experience, and there were only a couple of reviews for this property, so we took a little bit of a chance booking it. In Viola's absence, Veronika was the perfect hostess. She was available in the morning and afternoon to help us with any questions we had and to give us advice on restaurants and places of interest. We are not resort people, so for us, this quiet, out of the way property was perfect. Not only did we have three spacious rooms in our apartment, we had an ocean view from our terrace where we ate breakfast most every morning. The temperatures in Aruba are hot and sticky, so the A/C in the bedroom was welcome when we were at the house. As requested, we turned it off whenever we left, and it only took 5 minutes to cool down once we returned. The breezes on the island are great, and it helped to keep the kitchen and open-air living room cooler. We felt safe and very comfortable at the house at all times as the front door was locked at night. We had a key to it, so it didn't matter what time we came or went. The little beach in view of the house was nice, but we liked going to Arashi Beach, a quick 2 minute walk. There was much more beach to enjoy there, with fewer rocks in the ocean to stumble over. Since we were in Aruba for only 5 days, we rented a car and drove all over the place! With a map, it was very easy to navigate. Much of our time at night was spent in the high rise hotel area where there were multiple restaurants and shops, and it was only a 6-7 minute drive from our house. We also went to the southern most tip of the island to spend time at Baby Beach and Rodgers Beach. We went on some tours, including the Sea Bob tour which started right at Arashi Beach. Other than some mild sea sickness toward the end of the tour, it was great! (I would take pills next time - but that is just me!) Over all, it was a great first experience in Aruba and at this airbnb property. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay north of the busy, resort section of the island. It was definitely worth the drive.
