I have hosted many guests over the years and have enjoyed meeting and getting to know each one. All of my guests, except Aryan, have loved staying in my relaxed and warm home and have all written positive reviews on this site.
I am sorry that Aryan did not enjoy his stay. I think that Aryan has had little experience of communal living and therefore did respect the reasonable house guidelines that ensure the house functions well and all the inhabitants are respected. There is a manual that clearly states some basic and appropriate guidelines to advise guests about the use of communal spaces so that these are kept tidy and there is a happy atmosphere in the house, for all to enjoy.
While the well-equipped kitchen is available for use all day and in the evening, Aryan expected to cook meals late at night which disturbed the rest of the house. He left the kitchen in a mess and I politely requested that he clean up after he used the kitchen. Aryan also did not like being asked to refrain from playing his radio loudly in the morning and to speak more quietly on (Hidden by Airbnb) late at night, which disturbed the household.
We have a severe drought in South Africa with strict water restrictions that may incur harsh fines if transgressed, therefore guests are requested to use water sparingly and to save the water in a basin after washing up, to water the garden. All my guests are understanding of this need and support our cause to conserve water, except for Aryan.
Laundry is washed once a week, but Aryan wanted his washing done whenever he wished. It is clearly explained in the manual guests may use the laundry across the road if they require to their clothes to be washed more than once a week.
I have an alarm system and to ensure the safety of the household, thus it is crucial that all guests take responsibility to activate the alarm when going out. Clearly Aryan thinks differently about this matter too.
Aryan is an adventurous young man and I hope that in time he will learn to appreciate that fundamental guidelines are important to engender a harmonious and well- run home for the benefit of all inhabitants.
