The Lilacs Cabin is very cute and comfortable with lots of atmosphere. It was built in the 1920’s and is beautifully restored with lots of period nick-knacks. It is located in the Bailey’s Meadow area of Palomar Mountain. Bailey’s Meadow is by all accounts the most historical and quaintest community on the mountain having been settled more than 100 years ago.
Palomar Mountain just 1 hour, 20 min. from San Diego. The Cabin has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, full kitchen, treetop balcony, 2 living rooms and is full of atmosphere in the vortex of Mother Nature and good vibes.
90 year old massive rock fireplace, so bring some wood.
Down below: 2 bedrooms, 1 bath. In this old house the 2 lower bedrooms are not connected to the upstairs by interior stairs, but rather there are exterior stairs around either side of the house. Each bedroom has a door to the outside with an exterior seating area. The lower bedrooms are connected to each other by an interior doorway. Each bedroom has a Queen bed.
A multitude or birds come to the feeder at the Lilacs cabin.
PALOMAR'S LILACS CABIN ON EVERGREEN TRAIL: The Lilacs Cabin was hand built by mountain carpenters in the 1920s. As you enter the cabin you notice the original Redwood walls and timbers placed there by craftsmen 90 years ago. We really worked hard to preserve as much of the original including walls, floors, doors and windows. The land was part of the original 1888 Bailey homestead and the cabin used to be part of the Bailey Palomar Resort. The Bailey resort continues its long and proud tradition … for more information visit the home page for Bailey's Palomar Resort. The Lilacs is historically tied to the resort, but is owned and operated separately.

- The purpose of this sheet is to make sure you acknowledge that we have fully explained all the features of the Lilacs Cabin to you to inform others. We want to insure that we maintain excellent relations with all our Palomar Mt. neighbors (URL HIDDEN) NOTE: Violation of the agreements below may result in loss of some or all of the Security/Damage Deposit. This is an addendum to the rental agreement between Martin Eder, the owner of the Lilacs Cabin, and the following vacation renters: _______________________ , __________________________, _______________________ . PLEASE INITIAL NEXT TO EACH INFORMATIONAL SECTION, SIGN BELOW to indicate you have read and understand the following items; then email to >> (EMAIL HIDDEN)
___ 1) PEACE AND QUIET – NO LOUD PARTIES: Please use "quite voices" from 9 pm to 9 am We understand that the Lilacs is designed for “peace and quiet”. Respect for the neighbors and the caretaker is imperative. I understand that this is NOT a place for loud parties (including outside) and I can be asked to leave immediately for violating the ”Peace and quiet” rules and that there will be no refunds if this occurs.
___ 2) PARKING: We will park well off the road so neighbors can drive through on Evergreen Trail. It is important to hug the side of the parking area across from the cabin or near the propane tank. Parking is available for a MAXIMUM of 2 cars in front of the cabin. Other cars park well above on Bailey Meadow Road.
___ 3) WEATHER-RELATED ISSUES: Palomar weather is wonderful, but changes rapidly. During snow storms S-6 or S-7 might require chains. (If it has snowed, or you think it MIGHT snow, please check (URL HIDDEN) read on). Evergreen Trail is a level, gravel road with possible mud. If there is snow or snow FORECAST, it is entirely possible for cars to get stuck and require you to get a tow truck (this has happened once). We understand that it is vital that we park up on Bailey Meadow Rd (up 200 + yards or farther (see refrig. sign), but NEVER at end of Bailey Meadow Rd). During snow conditions, please walk in on Evergreen Trail about 130 yards to not get stuck.
___ 4) HIKING & PRIVATE PROPERTY: I HAVE READ the “Hiking Notes” sheet. We will respect the neighbor’s private property & Bailey pond below by not going down there and by sticking to the area immediately around the cabin, hiking ONLY on the dirt or asphalt roads ABOVE the cabin… or go to Palomar Mt. State Park 3 miles away or the Observatory Trail or Cleveland National Forest to hike.
___ 5) LEAVING THE CABIN: We will empty the REFRIGERATOR of all perishable foods we have brought with us & remove it from the cabin. Leave garbage in outdoor cans w/ locked lids ...or We will take as much of our GARBAGE with us- THANKS!!. ( Palomar's dump closed so take what garbage you can with you and leave the excess in the outside black trash cans with lids.) We will turn the GAS HEATER to “pilot setting.” FIREPLACE coals will be left cold. Please buy & bringing 2 organic 'firestarter logs' will save you blowing on wet kindling. LAUNDRY – all used towels & sheets will be washed & dried (in kitchen) prior to departing. We may leave linens in the dryer once dried (wet laundry should not be left in the dryer). KEYS will be returned to the lock box. We will TIDY UP A BIT before we leave, do the dishes & put away: Extra cleaning fees of $20 per hr. may apply if cabin left in a mess or not somewhat similar condition to when we arrived. Thanks for helping to keep prices reasonable!
____ 6) PHONES: Cabin phone # is (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). AT&T charges by the minute, bring a long-distance phone card or in emergencies only. (Cell phones don’t work at the cabin, but most work up the road 1-2 miles on State Park Rd.)
____7) CONSERVATION of UTILITIES: When out of the cabin or when going to sleep at NIGHT we’ll turn the Propane HEATER OFF or turn way down. With current propane costs this heater can burn $30+ fuel a day! We will bring up our own firewood for use. Outdoor fire pit is ambiance & for VERY SMALL fires only. I have read and agreed to all of the points above.
