Come and stay in our small but perfectly-formed guest space! It's completely separate from the main cottage, so you have privacy and can come and go as you please. It's warm and cosy and luxurious, and the en-suite offers a wonderful shower! And breakfast is included - see options below.
Also included is free entry for two to York Minster worth £20.
Cross the rose-covered patio and take the stone steps down into this charming guest space created within an old stone barn, and discover original features including exposed timber beams.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the garden and enjoy the amazing views of the Hambleton Hills to the south. Feel free to light the chiminea later or to keep warm or to barbecue your food.
Clothes washing and drying available on request (additional fee).
TV includes YouView (digital Freeview channels) with iPlayer etc.
Mobile phone signal isn't great in this part of the world, but EE works reasonably well and you can set up and use Wi-Fi calling on your smartphone to keep in touch.
We're right next door - just come and find us if there's anything you need to make your stay more enjoyable. Other than that we (and our dog and cat) will leave you in peace!

A continental breakfast is included - you'll find yogurts, milk, juice, freshly-baked bread and more in your suite - there's a fridge and small oven for you to use, as well as a kettle, teapot and cafetiere. We'll supply fair trade tea and coffee. Alternatively you can choose a Yorkshire cooked breakfast (vegetarian option available) cooked on the Rayburn in the cosy cottage kitchen (pictured). This costs an extra £7.50 per guest - let us know in advance if you'd like this.
The duvets and pillows are by Silentnight and the duvets are anti-allergy.
Please note that The Carpenter's Lodgings is a small guests space comprising a twin-bedroom, an en-suite shower room/WC, and a small area off the bedroom for preparing breakfast. There's a chest of drawers, and a mirror and stool, but there's no kitchen / sitting room / dining area. It's not a holiday home or cottage designed for self-catering; rather it's a comfy space to spend a few nights while visiting the area.
- We've said no to pets, but we don't mind you having one quiet, well-behaved dog with you - but please do check with us in advance.
- Smoking is not allowed inside, but we don't mind if you smoke in the garden or on the patio.
Hi, I'm James, and I'm a host - it's a small annexe to my home known as the Carpenter's Lodgings. I work as a carpenter and forester, and live in a beautiful area on the edge of the North York Moors with my young son, my dog and my cat. I've got two Land Rovers, one of which I'm currently restoring. I may at some point start using airbnb as a guest, if only I can find the time to get away!
