This wood and stone, mid-century sanctuary sits on 15 acres of undeveloped hillside without anyone to bother you. The epic views & the sound of wind rushing up the valley will make your troubles fade away. Hand built in 1978 by a violin maker and meticulously renovated in 2016 w/ state of the art bathrooms & kitchen, carpet, redwood deck & more. The feeling of so far away, yet just minutes from town. One of the most private homes on the hill. Extremely unique & better than the pictures.
The house is built down a wooded hillside, and was originally accessible by funicular (cable car). The architect's concept was to float into the forest amongst the canopy of trees. In the 1980's, a beautiful, long, winding pathway from garage to house was built. But, it was kept just a bit too narrow for a car, in order to preserve the exquisite landscape, and to keep that pronounced experience of transitioning from civilization into nature. Thus, in order to get from garage to house, you must either make the journey on foot or via the free golf cart that is provided to guests. This is an absolutely unique experience that you will never forget. Extremely private and serene.
The entire home is yours, and only yours, for the duration of your stay. Absolute and total privacy.
We will be there to quickly check you in, and explain all of the intricacies of the property. After that, you will not be disturbed by anyone. This is our home and our only rental property. We live 5 minutes away, and we are happy to answer any questions or offer assistance 24/7.

We are an artist / entrepreneur couple who spent a long time in LA, and enjoyed exploring So-Cal on weekend road trips. We fell in love with Idyllwild the moment we found it, and wound up buying CLOUDNINE as our nature retreat. After many hours of blood, sweat and tears, we completed its restoration keeping a careful eye to not deviate from the original architectural intent. We love Idyllwild so much that we live here full time now, and we run a small business at the corner of Fern Valley Road and South Circle. Come stop by and say Hi!
