Escape to our beautiful mountain cabin situated right between the town of Black Mountain and Bat Cave, just 30 minutes from Asheville, 15 minutes from Chimney Rock, and 25 minutes from Lake Lure. You'll be surrounded by nature but not too far from anywhere while you're at our home.
There are many sleeping options in our 800sq ft open floor plan cabin, including a queen sized bed, two twin beds, a futon, and a full-sized couch. Air mattresses can be provided upon request. Dogs are welcome, too!
We built our home two and a half years ago after dreaming of living in a cabin in the mountains. We don't have internet or cable available for guests, but there is cell service for most carriers, though generally you have to sit on the porch in order to make phone calls! We can give you hiking recommendations, point you in the direction of our watering holes, and direct you to anything you need in town.
Children are welcome in our home, but we did mark the house as unsuitable, as it has a large staircase and a wood stove, which could be concerning for parents.
Feel free to use the entire house, porch, and yard! We have a large DVD and board game collection which guests are welcome to. Guests are also welcome to use any other gaming systems in the house.
Guests are also welcome to use our fire pit and enjoy a bonfire at night!
We'll be staying on the property in a red barn next to the house. We will be sharing the driveway, and you will most likely see us coming and going throughout the day. We'd love to meet you! But don't worry -- we value privacy and will do everything we can to make sure you have yours! We'll also be available if there is anything you need.

Our house does not have central AC, but is cooled using a window unit. The house is very well insulated, and the window unit will completely cool down the entire house when it's running. We heat the house with a wood stove in the winter, but also have baseboard heaters. The one big baseboard heater in the downstairs living room will heat the entire house.
We have a beautiful "secret" three tiered waterfall and swimming hole near the house. We'll leave you directions in case you want to check it out. It's a bit off the beaten trail, but it's definitely worth seeing while you're on Route 9!
If you are coming in the winter and there is inclement weather, please be in contact with us about the best ways to stay safe on Route 9, parking, etc.
- No smoking in the house. Smoking is allowed on the front porch.
- No cats.
- No pets that are not potty trained.
- While parties are allowed, please make sure that they are responsible and within reason. We will not tolerate underage drinking or drunk driving. Any damage incurred to the property will be replaced at the renter's expense.
- Please be mindful that when you are not here, this is our home. Please respect our privacy by not going through our things, eating our groceries, etc. You are welcome to use any of our condiments, spices, and general cooking necessities (oil, butter, etc.)
