Double room with private bath and toilet in beautiful setting. Fifteen minute walk to city centre, shops and restaurants. Hosts know the city, its restaurants and attractions well.
The Room is sunfilled with garden views from both windows. You will have access to the built-in wardrobe, your own bathroom and toilet and use of the kitchen as required.
The House is a heritage listed with three bedrooms, two bathrooms on a large corner garden block. The house is fully renovated and is bright and modern. It is situated across from the Australian War Memorial and it's a fifteen minute walk to the central shopping district where you will find everything from boutique shops, dentists, doctors, cinemas, restaurants etc. It is also a fifteen minute walk to a vibrant restaurant precinct which is close to the city centre. The National Convention Centre is a 20 minute walk. If you are feeling energetic a walk up Mt Ainslie which is behind the Australian War Memorial is highly recommended. A beautiful oval is directly across the road. Reid is one of the oldest suburbs in Canberra and many of the houses are heritage listed on spacious grounds so a nice walk around the suburb is a must!
I'm originally from England and came to Australia in 1971 and stayed! I love the sun and clear blue sky! I am semi-retired and at home most of the time. I spend most of my time in my workshop and studio. My wife is a Canberran and worked part-time in the destination tourism industry. We love our inner city lifestyle and frequently go to the cinemas, numerous cafes and restaurants around our suburb. We also love our house which we lovingly renovated. We have a well-equiped kitchen and encourage you to use it. A Nespresso machine is available if you are passionate about coffee. You will have access to the shared living areas including the large outside deck and gardens. We have two small friendly dogs and a cat. We are friendly and love a chat but we are also mindful of your space and time.
We are a non-smoking household.
Originally English, came to Australia in 1971 on contract. Stayed. Mostly lived and worked in Canberra; now happily married to Jean. Retired from Public Service, but I take on casual assignments as a scribe. We enjoy travelling overseas, restaurants and the cinema. We know Canberra well especially Jean who worked in the marketing industry selling Canberra as a destination. So if you are unfamiliar with the city we can advise you on what to see, where to eat and how to get there.
As hosts you will find us easy going and friendly, but happy to leave you to yourself if that's what you want.
