I actually stayed at 3 of Carol's properties- the 1&2 bedrooms at Aina Nalu in Lahaina & the Kalama Terrace in Kehei (a block from the beach). All the properties were close to town and were easy to find and access. All places had kitchens equipped with the basics-check the fridge for condiments & the pantry before you go get groceries. Everything was reasonably clean-a few things were left messy-one fridge had a spill in it, a pot was put away with food burned on (just needed to use the brand new scrubbing pad provided-a fresh one given in each unit), empty water bottle under a bed, Dorito chip under under the couch, a sock behind the dresser. Aside from that floors were vacuumed, kitchens & bathrooms were clean, fresh sheets & towels. Standard beach gear was provided in each unit: towels, chairs, coolers, some sand toys, boogie board... Selection varied in each unit.
The drawbacks for the Aina Nalu is the $15/day for on-site parking and no wi-fi in the room. The rooms were right next to the concierge/reception desk, views were of the street & parking lot, but the room was quiet enough and our a/c provided "white noise." We were lucky enough to find street parking just outside the complex each day. You can access wireless from either pool area- we couldn't from the room (drawback but reason enough to head to the pool). Our unit had a compact dishwasher & stackable washer/dryer which was super nice... I just had to finish drying the sheets & towels started by the cleaning person. These were nicely decorated units with SUPER comfortable king-sized beds, a/c & fan in each room. If you want a hot shower before your 6 am dive check-in... Don't bother. We easily had to wait 10+ minutes for warm/hot water, wasn't an issue later in the day.
Kalama Terrace is more of an apartment complex than condo/resort. You need to use your key to access the pool and grill area. Dedicated parking spot (tight space but aren't they all here?) next to the stairs to the room. Was a comfortable place, it needs some cosmetic work: floor & wall trim are broken/missing in parts, a/c unit leaks water on the deck floor, hall closet door was off its track (not closing right)... Minor things which do not detract from your stay here. Our biggest issues with this unit were the flat pillows and uncomfortable bed (really needs a nigh quality foam pad added). You wake up each morning to the birds singing... Not too bad of a way to wake up though. Free wireless in the room, we had to call for the password.
We would stay in either place again & would book through Carol again- no hesitations. Carol was flexible with out check-in/out times. We did have an issue with one check in (we couldn't get in until 6pm) but if you knew the reason why you'd totally understand & Carol did offer us another option for the night until the other unit was available.
