Private Lakehouse surrounded by 1000's of acres of nature. 3 bedrooms plus a separate studio (when booked for 7+) can accommodate up to 8 people outside Narrowsburg, 2 hours from NYC. We provide clean, natural and simple plus a few surprise amenities! Mother Nature provides an amazing view, a babbling brook, a serene lake and lots of wildlife including white tailed deer and bald eagles.
This property provides a peaceful refuge from the city. The main house has a large open living and dining room with South-facing picture windows providing lots of light and a view over the lake.
During the colder months, this flexible space allows you to stretch out with some yoga in the morning, sketch in the afternoon, and enjoy a meal around the locally handcrafted table in the evening, followed by a card game in front of the fire. Or hit the slopes at Ski Big Bear in nearby Masthope and then farm-to-table dinner at Hennings Local.
During the warmer months, row across the lake, take a nap in a hammock strung between the oak trees, grill out, spread out into the screened porch, and tell stories around the fire pit, followed by some star gazing. Alternatively, catch an outdoor concert at Bethel Woods on the site of the 1969 Woodstock festival, or dinner overlooking the majestic Delaware River at The Heron or Launderette in the nearby town of Narrowsburg.
Each bedroom in the main house is equipped with Parachute linens, a ceiling fan to help amplify the cooling lake breeze on hot days, and ample space to store your clothes.
The bathrooms retain retro sinks and a mini tub in the family bathroom, with new tile, fixtures, and bluetooth speakers.
A studio above the garage allows groups of 7+ to spread out, with an additional bathroom/shower and kitchenette.
Some things you won't find here are a television, game console, Fios-speed internet (we have tried to maximize the DSL service with a fast router!), ironing board or a 24 hour grocery store - if those are on your must-have list another property will suit you better!
The house is surrounded by five acres of grounds with a babbling brook and access to beautiful Fox Lake across the country road, and borders thousands of acres of undeveloped property owned by the Boy Scouts. A studio above the garage provides additional accommodation when booked for groups of 7+ and is occasionally used by our family guests, but you will have the main house to yourself. Don't be surprised if you wake up to white tailed deer or wild turkeys grazing in the yard, a gaggle of geese landing on the lake, or a bald eagle circling overhead - wildlife is abundant!
We are sometimes around to check in face to face after your arrival, but even when we are not, we will aim to respond quickly to any questions or issues. We can also provide referrals to other nearby properties if you need additional accommodation for a large group.
