Lavender Cottage (built 1805) is a charming 3 storey Georgian property. It's truly unique for a Georgian cottage as it has huge (mainly walled) garden (not a small courtyard) with free adjacent parking for un/loading. There is the added bonus of the free use of a beach hut located on the beautiful Walmer strand. The ultimate English seaside experience! It's great for eating fish and chips on the beach and sheltering from the sun /harsher elements ! Ideal for children and four legged friends!
Lavender Cottage is, we hope, a real bolt hole so we hope that it feels like that to you too. There is a snug with a large open fire, separate dining room/kitchen with dishwasher/2 double bedrooms/bathroom- there is a half door leading (from the cottage to the garden) where there are 2 outbuildings. One houses an outside w/c and the second houses a laundry room, with washing machine and a freezer.
The Cottage is quirky and homely, with the added advantage of being perfectly located for the beach, the town and the Castle (5 min walk to each). Unlike a lot of Deal guests can park for 2 hours opposite the Cottage so ideal for loading and unloading. There are some parking restrictions on the street during the day. In the Welcome Pack I have details of alternate parking options, which may be useful.
Again, unlike most Georgian properties there is a large garden, with a large decking/eating area- with a garden sofa, arm chairs and lots of seating options. There is also a hammock and a garden fire basket for those long summer evenings.
There is a half door in the hall way so the house can be flooded with light during the summer months. There is a family dining room with lots of seating, and a pasta marble topped table (if you feel tempted to have a go!!). This is easily wiped so also perfect for crafting or playing board games.
In the snug there is a TV with all of the free view channels and an inbuilt DVD player. There are also lots of books/games/music/DVDS and an open fire for those who want to get away from it all.
There are Fogarty duvets, with extra bedspreads/duvets/pillows and hot water bottles and electric blankets so it should make for a snug nights sleep no matter the season.
Full access to all house amenities, there is one locked cupboard used for housekeeping and one in the garden - purely for the housekeeper.
We are happy to accept one well behaved dog, however its access is restricted to the first floor (as it has wooden/ tiled floors)- to ensure the cleanliness of the cottage. There is a stair gate available to restrict access to other floors, or you can simply keep the doors closed. A dog incurs an additional fee of £15 for the duration of the stay.
There is an open stairwell to the snug, so it may not be ideal for small children and there are a lot of stairs. However, if you do want to come with your children there is a travel cot, stair gate, bumbo chair and a highchair stored in the utility outhouse.
There is one low beam in the snug- so please watch your head.
There is an open fire and fuel for the guests' first night.
There is an abundance of garden furniture, including a hammock and a fire basket (the latter is not to be used on the decking area).
The guests will have total access to the property without interference, though we would ask guests to be mindful of neighbours if out in the garden late at night, and lighting the fire basket too late! There are some logs in the garden for the fire basket.
There is a Welcome Pack (local information etc) available and a wide selection of tourist information, we do not live in Deal but we are available to answer any problems you may have.
