We had a really wonderful stay in Bosanska Krupa, and in hindsight wished we had stayed longer. We visited with our two children (aged 7 and 11) and they both loved the wooden house and its position above the river. It has a real child like appeal. (Although it is probably not suitable for younger children/toddlers). Although it is very close to the centre of town, it also felt like a very peaceful terrace and place to relax, and for our children to play. On a minor note, the kitchen area in the house is very small (only one cooking ring and a microwave, no oven. ). We coped fine cooking simple meals, but don't expect to prepare a banquet.
In any case, we ate in the restaurant next door which was cheap and easy, and had a riverside view. Our children enjoyed playing in the river from the nearby islands, which are just a minute walk away in a pleasant public park, while we relaxed in the little bars. We also had an enjoyable afternoon playing in the river at the Mlincici picnic area and waterfalls at Bosanska Otoka. We travelled to Bosanska Krupa from the Croatian coast, and arrived in the rain. It felt like a very different place from Croatia, with its well-developed tourism. And while we enjoyed the house, our first impression of the town was a little uncertain. But as we explored the river and the area, and settled in, we really discovered the area's charms. We loved waking up and gazing at the trout beneath us, in the green shimmering river, and watching the town life around us. With a shop nearby, this was an easy base for a family, and we wished we'd had more time to explore the Una area. Samra's family were kind and helpful, leaving a few treats in the house to welcome us, and our stay in Bosanska Krupa was undoubtedly the most interesting and enjoyable stint in our holiday.
