This calm and rustic farmhouse includes traditional features and wood-burning stoves to accommodate between 6-8 adults as well as a baby and a child. The house makes the most of its location amongst lush green rolling hills, with beautiful views.
Ca’Gallo is a traditional farmstead set in the beautiful hills of Rancitella just 8 miles from Urbino. It sits on a promontory of hillside surrounded by lush vegetation and wildlife.
The house is entered on the first floor comprising a large kitchen-diner with wood-burning stove, leading to a shaded terrace for outdoor dining. There are two comfortable bedrooms with kingsize orthopeadic beds and a compact bathroom with shower.
From the kitchen a staircase leads you to the ground floor where you will find a sitting room with French windows onto the front piazza of the house and a kingsize sofa-bed. There is a large and well-equipped family bathroom and a beautiful bedroom, also with French windows to the front, with two small double beds, perfect for the flexible needs of family groups.
There is a large collection of books in the house for guests to read while visiting. They cover art, architecture, history, politics as well as fiction and poetry. There is also a stereo and collection of CDs to listen to.
The house is part of a group of 3, originally owned as one house by a local family. The other two houses are still owned by members of that family who visit and retain a deep connection to the land their ancestors worked. This house is far from any sense of the rush and stress of modern, urban life.
Entire house, forecourt/piazza, wild garden, car parking.
We live in London, but our friendly and helpful neighbours (who live in nearby Urbino) come to Ca'Gallo most afternoons. Another neighbour comes to clean the house and is available to help in case of need.

It is important to understand that this house is deep in the countryside so there are the usual benefits as well as minor downsides, such as insects! The house is rustic and not sterile like some holiday homes - the cutlery doesn't match! In the winter, heating is provided by wood-burning stoves, one in the kitchen and one in the sitting room which drives the central heating: This requires some work in keeping it fed and hot. Firewood is provided of course. Hot water is heated by the stove when lit and an electric boiler. It can be very cold in the winter and the stove needs to be fed and maintained in order to keep the heating running hot! There are also some electric fan heaters if you need to give it a boost.
We would like our guests to feel at home in our house. Please treat it as your own whilst staying, making sure to report any damages to us as soon as possible, replacing kitchen staples if you finish them, taking care with the CDs, DVDs and the book collection which we are very proud of.
We are a London family who loves to make the most of this great city. We enjoy music, art, cinema, eating delicious food we make at home or find in local restaurants. We also love to go on holiday, often in the UK (Wales, Norfolk, Cornwall) and also to Italy and Spain. We want guests to enjoy our house which is comfortable but not flash! We also hope that they use it as a base to get to know the vibrant local area and people, much as we hope to get to know the places and people that we visit.
