Şato
“The castle was built by the Crusaders in the 12th century from indigenous limestone and the remains of Roman structures. The finished structure was surrounded by a moat. It belonged to the Genoese Embriaco family, whose members were the Lords of Gibelet. Saladin captured the town and castle in 1188 and partially dismantled the walls in 1190. Later, the Crusaders recaptured Byblos and rebuilt the fortifications of the castle in 1197. In 1369, the castle had to fend off an attack from Cypriot vessels from Famagusta. The Byblos Castle has distinguished historical buildings for neighbors. Nearby stand a few Egyptian temples, the Phoenician royal necropolis and the Roman amphitheatre.”

“Revamped into its original ancient Phoenician time, walking through the Old Souk is like stepping back into all the history accounts of the forever rising Phoenix, stepping back in time, yet in modernity. Images of history books come alive under your feet & through your eyes.”

“Privately owned and operated beach resort. You need to pay an entrance fee (not so cheap!!) but you will get access to several swimming pools and a sandy beach front. You can eat at their restaurants while there. It's a real nice view to the Mediterranean sea from the restaurant.”

City
“It is one of the oldest cities in the world. It is also one of the rare sites that have continuously been inhabited since their foundation excavations show that it dates back to the 6th millennium B.C. Its ancient inhabitants did not call it Byblos, but rather "Jubla" and later "Jebal". Around 1200B.C. the Greeks named it Byblos or "Papyrus", because it traded in this product. How to reach Byblos – Jbeil It is 37 kilometers north of Beirut. It can be reached by taking the Beirut – Tripoli highway or by taking the old road along the coast near the Gulf of Jounieh ”
