Transportation
“Phuket’s Bus Terminal 2 on Thepkasatri Road leading out of town handles all passengers coming to and leaving the island. Travelling from and to Phuket without spending a fortune on taxi or flights can be quite challenging. Even finding the necessary information to reach nearby Krabi and Khao Lak isn’t that easy. As you enter the large building, you’ll find ticket counters to the left and right to specific destinations. Take your time in choosing a window and compare and contrast fares as prices can vary to the same destination depending on the bus type. Below are some prices and schedules to help you orientate yourself. The bus terminal is also the place to catch mini-buses to Koh Lanta and Krabi. Prices are non-negotiable. Carrying on through the terminus, a left-luggage counter stands to the left and to the right a 7-Eleven lookalike: B&B supermarket. It sells all the essentials you'll need for your journey. Here, you’ll also find public payphones and a large-screen LCD television set high on the wall. In the midst of the large departure area are 2 rows of reinforced plastic seating as well as nearer to the waiting buses. At the far end of the departure hall is a taxi rank with a list of destinations and prices with public toilets to one side as well as several snack concessions. Nearby Phuket Bus Terminal 2 Around 200 metres north of Bus Terminal 2 and on the opposite side of the road is Supercheap, a veritable monster of a shop that sells everything from computers to crackers so if you have a few hours to kill before your bus leaves, wander over and have a look. And if all else has failed and you cannot find the bus you need, take heart: right next to the building is a used car dealership… Phuket Bus Terminal 2 Location: Thepkasattri Road, Ratsada, Muang, Phuket 83000, Thailand”

History Museum
“Thai Hua Museum on Krabi Road is one of the best looking and well-maintained Sino-Portuguese buildings in Phuket. This recently renovated building was at one stage a Chinese-language school. These days it is used as a museum, exhibition space and an occasional function hall. In 2008, the Thai Hua Museum was given an award in the category of constitutional and public buildings by the Siam Architect Association under the King’s patronage for its outstanding role in conserving architectural arts.”

Thai History, Thai mythology, and Thai traditions are presented in a colourful and lively show using some of the latest effects. Museum
“Phuket Trickeye Museum is entirely dedicated to the art of trompe-l’oeil (French for ‘deceive the eye’), a painting technique that creates a 3-dimensional illusion on a 2-dimensional (flat) support. Set in a large 2-storey building at the intersection of Montri and Phang Nga roads, Phuket Trickeye Museum displays a gallery of something like 100 paintings offering great photo opportunities as well as a lot of fun. Sample photos are available to indicate visitors how they should position themselves in front of the paintings in a way to take the most realistic illusional picture (it also means that the experience is better with friends so you could take each other’s photos). From classic paintings with a twist to scenes of modern life to historical settings to movie scenes, visitors travel a lot geographically and through time in this highly amusing museum. Opening Hours: Daily from 10am to 7pm Location: 130/1 Phangnga Rd, Talat Yai, Muang, Phuket 83000, Thailand Tel: +66 (0)76 212 806”

“King Power Phuket is a duty-free shopping mall near Phuket International Airport. Specialising in exactly what you'd expect in a duty-free shop, it's a novel concept that gives you more time and more choice, but with the same prices. King Power is one of Thailand's most popular duty-free companies, and it’s not difficult to see why. Aside from the fact that they hold the monopoly for such services in Thailand, their range of wares is very impressive. It includes high-end fashion labels like Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein and Pierre Cardin, top-notch accessories such as Omega, Rolex and Longines, as well as cosmetics from the likes of Clinique, Estée Lauder and MAC. You can also find an impressive range of Thai crafts and souvenirs at its many outlets. Shopping at King Power Phuket King Power Phuket occupies a 48,000-square-metre complex on Chao Fah Tawan Tok Road, around 4.2 km southwest of Phuket Town. This Sino-Portuguese patterned mall gives you plenty of time (and space) to browse at your leisure, try on clothes for size, and choose from a much larger range of items. Whatever you buy in King Power Phuket, you can only receive them in a duty-free environment, which is after passport control at Phuket International Airport. You will need to prove that you are in Phuket on holiday, as well as provide details of when you plan to collect your goods to make a purchase, so be sure to bring your passport and return ticket with you. After making your purchases, you can arrange to collect them at the airport from the King Power collection counter before boarding your flight. “One Chun (more correctly spelt Wan Jan, meaning 'Monday' in Thai) is a family-friendly restaurant near the intersection of Thepkasattri and Dibuk roads in Phuket Old Town. Unpretentious yet trendy, this restaurant is extremely popular for both its authentic southern Thai cuisine and its quirky vintage décor and relaxed atmosphere. Featuring an alfresco area in its backyard, One Chun is as much a place to meet friends around a drink as a restaurant. Its extensive menu hosts all the favourite Thai dishes from roasted duck with red curry to crabmeat with yellow curry to pork panang – so, plenty of local delicacies for you to sample. As the restaurant mostly caters to locals, be wary of how spicy some of the dishes may be. “Timber Hut is a long-established venue in Phuket Town. It opened in 1990 and went through the years without changing much of its décor and atmosphere, which may contribute to its constant success. Mostly frequented by Phuket’s hi-so youngsters, it also attracts many foreigners curious to get a glimpse of the local after-dark entertainment scene. Set in a 2-storey, red-brick building on Yaowarat Road at the northern end of Phuket Old Town, Timber Hut hosts a daily live music shows in which international and Thai classics are performed by talented and skilled musicians. Food and drinks are sold at affordable rates, and from time to time, you might be even able to spot Thai and international celebrities on holiday enjoying a drink there. “Raya Restaurant is, without doubt, the best place if you want to sample authentic Thai cuisine in Phuket Town. Set in a converted 2-storey shop-house built at the beginning of the 20th century in Phuket Old Town, the restaurant offers its customers a feeling of dining at the museum in addition to the great quality of the food served here. Raya is so renowned that it often has movie stars, royalty, TV personalities and other VIPs for customers. In fact, they even have customers in Bangkok who request the star dish – the crabmeat curry – be specially flown up to the capital. With excellent genuine Thai cuisine, historical settings, relaxed atmosphere, and fair prices, Raya is a must-sample restaurant in Phuket Town. “Aphrodite is a glamorous cabaret show much in the same vein as Simon Cabaret in Patong. With a cast of hundreds it's certainly impressive to view and an entertaining night out. A large ship-like structure located opposite Tesco Lotus just outside Phuket Town, it houses a 900-seater theatre, a suki shop that can hold 350 diners and a 600-diner Chinese restaurant, as well as a brewery producing three types of Pearl Lager Beer.”
