Over 290 visits all with great reviews. Guests also say that our photos don't do us justice, trust them, this is a perfect destination for complete relaxation and privacy. Close the gates and stay put! Two supercool spaces The Bespoke Cabin with woodburner and the Summerhouse are set in a private meadow. The Summerhouse at the top of the paddock has views, fab for sunbathing or cloud and star gazing it has a deck and firebowl. Lovely setting nestled below Helman Tor. Children over 6 welcome.
Built for purpose the cabin is a one off alternative and self contained beautiful space. It is not a mobile home/kit or attached to my property. It is a converted field shelter Bespoke design not a kit!! It is a separate entity along the lane from my property and set within its large and beautiful 1.5 acre meadow with views. Dimensions are 6m x 4m. Small but pefectly formed. The ground floor has a kitchen and living space combined with a woodburner. The living space is double height which gives a feeling of space. Also on the ground floor a bedroom with double bed and ensuite shower room. A heavy curtain can be pulled to separate the downstairs living and sleeping areas. The Cabin is light and airy and all windows are double glazed and the cabin is twin skinned with full insulation. There is an electric radiator in the bedroom area, which can be moved around. The second double bed is above this room on a mezzanine level accessed by a ladder, there is limited head height here on the mezzanine but this makes it a snug and cosy space, with blinds which drop down for privacy. Not suitable for younger children. Not suitable for ages 2 to 6 older children could be considered. There is a freeview television with radio. No wifi. Good 4g coverage...especially in the Summerhouse. Probably more suited for a couple but four adults or two extra older children would be fine. Romantic or retreat! Private and a lovely setting. Officially used for engagement surprises and Honeymoons. I can arrange balloons or cake or anything to make your celebration special, just ask. Access to the mezzanine nook is by ladder! Outside space is private and extensive and although next to the lane this is a very quiet valley. You have a private paddock with a summer house with deck at the top of it for lazydays watching the sky or sunbathing on the deck. Ideal star gazing very little if any light pollution. A fabulous firebowl is also situated by the Summerhouse. There is a smaller fire pit down by The Cabin and bbq. Ideal cycling/walking country. On the Saint's Way situated below Helman Tor. Beside Breney Common Nature reserve. Also on cycle route 3. Very little light pollution. Situated in the geographic middle of Cornwall so easy to access coast and most famous areas. Please message me for any more information. One night stays subject to availability please message for details.
We are on the Saints' Way here and walking distance from Helman Tor a special and beautiful place. Also Breney Common Nature Reserve is adjacent to the cabin and a haven for wildlife. The nearest pub is 2.5 miles away the Crown Inn in Lanlivery, the Kings Arms pub in Luxulyan is also close with great food and atmosphere. Fowey and Lostwithiel are approx. 7 and 9 miles away. No public transport nearby the nearest train stations are Bodmin Parkway and Par both 7 miles away and this would be a great base for a cycling holiday being on the Cycle Route 3 . By appt I could collect from a train. Happy to help with ideas for trips if you can tear yourself away from here and the cabin has maps and tourist info for you to browse. Games and binoculars if you just want to hunker down!

Escape to the beautiful wilderness of the North Cornish coast, close to Port Isaac & Polzeath. Stay in a handcrafted shepherd's hut with curved ash beams & Salamander wood burner on a converted railway line. Relax in your own private hot tub with only the local cows for company. Or explore the nearby woods, go swimming, fishing & boating on the magical freshwater lake. A perfect break for couples or a solo traveller wanting to unwind. For updates check "Free Range Escapes" on social media
The shepherd's hut is based at Cornish Tipi Holidays/Weddings also known as Tregildrans Quarry and this is our beautiful second hut at this unique site. Both huts have their own individual character, the biggest difference is that Bluebell hut has its own wood fired couples hot tub - perfect for relaxing in style in the great outdoors. The site has a woodland valley folded around a clear, spring-fed lake created from the old quarry. The hut is at the top of a secret 20 acres clothed in ferns and bluebells, oak and meadowsweet. Undisturbed by modern agrochemicals and herbicides the natural ecosystem has flourished, providing a thriving habitat for flowers and butterflies, birds and mammals. It’s a place a world apart from the rush and clutter of the modern holiday experience, with an atmosphere that makes you forget the world outside, and just lounge, ramble, or potter about in a boat. The Shepherd's Hut itself is situated in a recently reclaimed part of the site on the old railway line which was taken out in the 60's, reclaimed by nature until now! Guests will have full access to the whole site & all its faculties. 20 acres of woodland to explore and a freshwater lake to swim, boat and fish in. As well as your own secluded garden space complete with an open fire and garden furniture & couples wood fired hot tub. The shepherds hut has its own private compositing loo and wooden shower shed (made partly from pallets) both outside. You are of course allowed full access to any of the other loo/shower blocks on site. There is also electricity!! Solar powered lights & USB sockets make it easy to charge items or read a book after the sun goes down. However please be aware that there are not any standard plug sockets in the hut. The aim is to have created a space which makes you feel like you are out in nature & the elements but with more comfort than basic camping.
At Free Range Escapes you are a five minute drive from some of the prettiest villages and most spectacular coastline in Cornwall. You can buy fresh mackerel, scallops and crab in the fish cellars at Port Isaac within 10 minutes of leaving your Shepherd's Hut, go sea kayaking under soaring cliffs at Port Quin or take a surfing class on Polzeath’s trend setting shoreline. We have some phenomenal walking right on our doorstep; the Cornwall Coastal Footpath, the Saints’ Way, but unfortunately a car is still usually needed to get you there. 15 minutes up the coast brings you to Tintagel Castle and the ancient village of Boscastle, and the same distance inland lets you walk the rugged solitude of Bodmin Moor. We have a variety of good shops, pubs and restaurants in the area including the now nationally famous Seafood Restaurant in Padstow – book a return with the late water taxi across the moonlit estuary from Rock for a special evening out. You can go on fishing trips, bird watching walks, sea safaris, sailing and windsurfing courses, learn to ride, golf, play tennis, see a touring theatre production, work in watercolours, take a master class in seafood cookery, explore Cornish history, attend a music or literary festival, or just go cycling together on the beaufiful Camel Trail nearby. If you’re prepared to go a little further afield try a day trip by tiny plane to the glorious Isles of Scilly off Land’s End, or a trip to the Minack Theatre set outside on the cliffs high above Porthcurno, or closer by visit the massive biodomes of the ever popular Eden Project.

Before booking please see booking details under The Space below.... The Barn is a recently converted, luxury romantic retreat situated in a secluded, hidden valley overlooking the Warleggan river. Surrounded by wildlife, majestic oaks and bluebell woods, it is within easy reach of many of Cornwall's unique locations.
A beautiful, recently converted (2016) stone barn in a private 14 acre estate with stunning views of the Glynn valley overlooking the Warleggan river, The Barn at Lower Tredinnick provides a luxury detached cottage with everything you need for a total escape from it all. Booking details: We offer a 3 day weekend break (arrive Fri, leave Mon) and/or a 4 day mid-week break (arrive Mon, leave Friday) or any combination of these, particularly during standard UK holidays (high season). In 2020 these are: spring half term 14-24 Feb, Easter holiday 3-19 April, summer half term 22 May - 1 June, summer holidays 24 Jul - 7 September, autumn half term 19 Oct-2 Nov, Christmas & New Year 2020 negotiable. Out of high season, we are often happy to be flexible so please do get in touch if Mon - Fri or Fri - Mon doesn't suit your plans. The Barn is designed by award winning sustainable local architects, Arco 2. Heated throughout by an under-floor eco air-source system, fully insulated and double-glazed, you will always be warm and comfortable. Electricity is 100% renewable. The kitchen is equipped with A rated dishwasher, washer drier, induction cooker, fridge freezer, toaster, electric kettle and all you might need in a home from home (if there is something you need that's not there we will endeavour to provide it). We supply a small honesty larder of basics, such as tea, coffee, oil and vinegar, salt, pepper & herbs; please replace what you use and/or add to the store. The living room has a French "Godin" woodburner with a generous supply of free logs, providing extra warmth in the winter months and a large comfortable sofa with wonderful views over the valley. There's a wireless music system for you to plug into, books, rainy day games, maps and local information. There are bifold glass doors which give access to a balcony where you can sit and enjoy meals outside. We have a charcoal barbecue & utensils you can borrow, just ask and bring your own charcoal. Upstairs, there is modern shower room and the bedroom has a comfortable king size double bed and all the space you need to store your belongings. It is decorated in a restful blue and is further enhanced with soft lighting. There are french windows leading to a secluded south facing patio where you can sit out and lose yourself in the peaceful surroundings. Please get in touch for any further information. We are sometimes able to be flexible about arrival and leaving times depending on our bookings. We have a travel cot for babies (babes in arms) if needed at no extra charge. Unfortunately we are not able to accomodate children due to the wild nature of the property (built on the edge of a substantial drop and near a river, etc.) We cannot accommodate dogs or any pets as, however pleasant and obedient, they do have an effect on the local wildlife, which we are trying to encourage. Please bring your own beach towels.
This is cornish countryside at its best. Walk in the woods or stroll by the river. Or just sit outside and enjoy the view. Buzzards fly over head, marsh tits feed on our feeder and the butterflies and wild flowers are prolific. There is no light pollution so on cloudless nights the stars are fantastic. Watch out for shooting stars!

Ev, ihtiyacınız olabilecek her şeye sahiptir.

The SIPHON offers a special glamping holiday where your carbon footprint will be minimal - we source as much as we can from local suppliers and ask our guests to recycle/compost. The SIPHON is off grid - solar power provides electricity for lighting and charging mobile phones - and there is a 'green' waterless toilet. A really exciting AND DIFFERENT holiday experience with outside space for barbecuing and play. Perfect for FAMILY celebrations, children AND dogs AND close to the EDEN PROJECT
Enjoy the comfort of the wood burning stove, melt marshmallow over the fire pit or cook your meal in the open air! Close to the Eden Project, The Siphon railway carriage offers a totally different holiday experience. Stay in this converted railway carriage with comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen, COSY WOOD BURNING STOVE (first night’s fuel FREE thereafter £5 a pack) separate compost toilet and an amazing hot shower, 12 volt electricity for lighting and phone charging and a fire pit. A great off-grid glamping experience. Although listed as sleeping eight people, the Siphon itself sleeps UP TO SIX (bunk beds can only be used by children of six or above) with an additional two people being accommodated in The Toad BRAKE VAN which is close by, at a small additional charge The Siphon RAILWAY CARRIAGE is nearly 60' long, divided into three separate bedrooms, one with a king size double the SECOND with two single beds, plus an additional THIRD bedroom with bunk beds (not suitable for very young children). In addition two adults can be accommodated in The Toad brake van which is just a few yards away, offering the facility for two families or a larger group of friends to stay. There is a sitting/dining area with WOOD BURNING STOVE, fully equipped kitchen with gas cooker plus an outside dining area when the weather is warm. The Siphon can accommodate SIX people in three separate bedrooms(and up to 8 people in total using both carriages). The living space and one of the bedrooms have double doors which lead out onto raised decking - perfect for al fresco dining - and a fully equipped kitchen area with gas cooker, work tops, sink and storage plus an enormous, very efficient cold box on the balcony. We change the ice packs as and when necessary for our guests. The Siphon is 'off-grid' - there is no mains electricity only 12 volt lighting and a charging point for phones. Sorry, no tv or electrical appliances! There is a cold water supply inside the wagon and an amazing outside hot shower and a ‘green ‘ toilet a very few steps away (less than ten feet). Outside and on a lower level to The Siphon is a firepit and seating area (just wooden planks on blocks)! where you can enjoy a drink (or two), watch the stars or listen to the sounds of the country whilst filling the fire - we can sell you bags of logs (£5 bag for kiln dried wood) - sorry but we are unable to provide free fuel for either the Wood burning stove or the firepit. Fuel for the stove MUST be purchased from us at £5 a pack although we supply your first pack free of charge. (Logs, kindling, flamer firefighter and matches). You will share your outside space with the birds and the many wild animals which live around - foxes, badgers, deer, otters, squirrels and many more smaller mammals but the inside of the Siphon is warm and secure. Fall asleep to the sound of the nearby river and wake to the dawn chorus of the birds. The Siphon is not for the frail or timid - the doors are the original heavy wood ones and the catches are also original - marvel at the workmanship which went into the making of this grand old lady and marvel yet more at the way in which she has converted so magnificently into this unusual holiday space. We have had nothing but positive feedback from our guests who come with open minds to enjoy this unusual and definitely unique glamping holiday destination. We hope that everything will be perfect for you and it will certainly be a new and exciting holiday experience for everyone who stays. Our younger guests have delighted in the magic of staying on a 'train' and Train Teddy will be there to greet them. Lots of space for running around, outside games and a range of indoor games for families to enjoy if the weather isnt good. The Siphons - the telegraphic name for these commercial carriages - carried milk in milk churns from the West Country to the cities of the UK. The Siphons were based on the chassis of passenger carriages and often were added to the rear of express passenger trains travelling from the West Country in order to transport milk and other perishables as quickly as possible to London and other centres. There were louvres cut into the wooden sides at two levels to allow for greater ventilation and these we have retained as much as possible in 'our' Siphon. This is truly a piece of railway history, particularly as there are only a handful of Siphons still in existence and many of these are in a very poor state. We describe The Siphon as an unique 'glamping with style' experience - a beautiful and spacious area in a railway carriage - but perhaps you will have other ways of describing her.... Our guests will enjoy the Siphon, the surrounding area and have access onto miles of surrounding trails and the walk or cycle to the Eden Project. The Siphon is positioned on one of the sidings of the Trenance Valley Line - one of the last branch lines built by the Great Western Railway or the GWR - 'God's Wonderful Railway'. This line only carried commercial traffic. It was authorised in 1910, opened in 1920 after the first world war and eventually closed in 1968. A word of warning - the river is close by and is NOT securely fenced so children will need to be supervised but what an experience for everyone who stays here! We also feel that The Siphon experience may not be entirely suitable for very young children - children of three or younger have stayed very successfully and have been enthralled by the experience but, parents, be aware! no washing machine, only an outside shower and no tv! But there are plenty of positive things to offset these. Being close to nature, plenty of 'family' time with no digital distractions, walking, playing outside or playing some of the games which are inside the Siphon, melting marshmallows at the firepit, cooking supper over a wood fire, having evening sing-songs around the fire, partying - your choice - some or all of these! The whole area was an industrial site so be aware that there are drops, uneven surfaces and other hazards - but common sense and care will prevent any accidents. We are happy to suggest places to visit, suggestions on where to eat and walks accessible from The Siphon or slightly further away. The Siphon is in a rural position in a valley setting close to the River Vinnick - we could bore you with more historical detail but you can read all about the area when you are here. Centrally positioned for exploring Cornwall, close to the south Cornish beaches and only a short drive to the surfing beaches of the north coast - just a perfect holiday retreat! There is public transport but limited - do please try to bring a car or rent one when you get here - mainline trains at St. Austell, about 1.5 miles away, a few buses and, of course, taxis. You can also walk directly from The Siphon into St. Austell using the trails which cover miles of the surrounding area, or you can walk to the Eden Project using the trails. The Siphon is not connected to the national grid - electricity is 12 volt supplied via solar energy. Therefore - no tvs, no hairdryers, no washing machines -but plenty of peace, relaxation, bird song, playing games, conversation, good food and wine - the list is endless. There is a cold water supply connected to the sink in the kitchen and there is hot water to the shower and basin outside. We aim to keep our 'carbon footprint' as small as possible and at the same time offer our guests a truly unique holiday experience. We therefore ask all guests to recycle as much of their rubbish as possible (tins/plastic bottles/glass jars and bottles, cardboard and paper are all collected) and to buy local produce whenever possible to reduce 'food miles'. The Siphon has a wood burning stove installed which heats the main living area - an excellent heat source to keep away any chill. Please note that fuel for the stove must be purchased from us and guests are asked not to burn any rubbish in the stove. PLEASE NOTE THAT DURING PEAK PERIODS AND SCHOOL HOLIDAYS THERE IS A MINIMUM BOOKING PERIOD OF THREE DAYS. At all other times the minimum booking period is two days apart from a few weeks in November/December when we are happy to accept ONE DAY BOOKINGS. THE TOAD: We have a second carriage available which sleeps 2 adults - if your party numbers more than 6 please ask about this which is available at an extra but discounted price. The Toad brake van was used on the Great Western Railway at the end of long trains carrying commercial traffic. It has the original sand boxes supplying sand to the braking wheels to help slow down the train and although now converted to holiday accommodation the original features of the wagon are still present. The Toad offers a living space with seating and a double bed plus a kitchen with hob and sink. There is cold water only into the kitchen sink and a further tap outside. Outside is a fire area for outdoor cooking if the weather permits. The Toad is only available for renting in conjunction with The Siphon as it shares the outdoor shower and toilet and for groups of over 6. Very occasionally The Toad can be used as a stand alone unit but only when The Siphon is not being used. Minimum rental periods are then two days out of season and three days in season (July and August, Christmas and New Year and all school holidays). Please ask for more details. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR USING THE TOAD IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SIPHON - PLEASE ASK BEFORE REQUESTING A RESERVATION. The Siphon itself - all 60' of her space - the immediate surrounding area including the firepit for outside fires and barbecue area and access onto miles of surrounding trails - all this is available to our guests. We are here to answer questions, help with suggestions of places to visit, change the icepacks in the giant cold box as and when necessary, provide information for local sightseeing - as little or as much help as you might need. Public transport isn't great - the main line railway station is at St. Austell (about 1.5 miles away), Newquay Airport (about 11 miles away), cross channel ferry at Plymouth for France (about 40 miles away) but local bus services are infrequent and we really do suggest having a car at your disposal, even if you hire one when you get to St. Austell. Guests staying in The Siphon need to be slightly different in their outlook on life - enjoy the outdoors, maybe walking or cycling, surfing or swimming, sailing or kayaking - prepared to spend the evenings playing board games or sitting outside watching the stars - barbecue some freshly caught fish (from one of the nearby harbours) - just a few suggestions........
Very close to the Eden Project and within easy reach of Heligan Gardens and the beaches of the north and south coast.

My place, a perfect base for exploring North Cornwall just off the A39 is close to Bodmin Moor, the Camel Trail for cycling, the North Devon and Cornwall sections of the South West Coastal Path for hiking and Surfing Beaches like Polzeath and Bude. Easy access to famous locations from television like Port Isaac and Jamaica Inn. There are loads of amazing small farm shops and tea rooms as well as larger destinations like Padstow near by with Rick Steins fish and chips.
The accommodation comprises one double bedroom, a lounge/dinner with freeview television and wifi. A fully equipped newly fitted kitchen with dishwasher. A brand new shower room with underfloor heating. The garden is large and enclosed with patio table and chairs. There is a driveway for off road parking and access to our field for guests with dogs. Also free eggs from our pet chickens (as pictured), and a cream tea on arrival, with enough milk, sugar and teabags to get you started. You'll love my place because of the amazing views up to Rough Tor, the easy access to the whole of North Cornwall and the enclosed garden suitable for dogs. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and furry friends (pets).
The immediate neighbourhood is a small hamlet of around 10 houses and farms, and although the A39 runs through it, the area is very rural and surrounded be fields. Davidstow with its famous creamery is one mile to the east and Camelford with its free parking, shops, pubs and petrol station three miles to the west. Rough Tor is five miles away, the turning is on the left on the way to Camelford, Hilltop Cafe/Farm shop is two miles away, the turning is on the right on the way to Camelford.

Hawks House is located 10 miles from Crackington Haven, which is included in the best surfing beaches in England and was recommended by the Marine Conservation Society in its Good Beach Guide. The scenery in the beach area of the surrounding majestic cliffs is almost un-rivalled. At high tide, the beach is a mass of quartz-veined pebbles and large boulders but at low tide, it reveals an expanse of sand and many rock pools. Only the road separates the sea from a couple of beach shops, two superb beach cafes and a public house with a restaurant and fantastic terrace.Fifteen minutes further up the coast is Bude, a popular tourist destination for both its surfing and fantastic family beaches in Widemouth Bay. The watchful eye of the RNLI lifeguards allows for some of the best surfing in the world alongside swimming and a whole host of water-based activities. Bude today is a lovely sea-side town, the main shopping streets and inter-connecting alleyways play host to a wide range of locally owned shops, restaurants and pubs. There are boutiques, shoes, arts & crafts, jewellery, hand-made gifts and souvenirs.A few miles inland is Bodmin Moor, one of Cornwall's designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cornwall at its wildest and rich in ancient history, Bodmin Moor stretches for 30 miles through the heart of the County of Cornwall and offers spectacular walking and horse riding. With easy access to the both the A30 and the Atlantic Highway you can quickly travel up and down the South-West to enjoy some of the larger tourist attractions that Devon and Cornwall have to offer. To the west lies the stunning and infamous village of Boscastle, it is a tiny port set in a narrow ravine, the town came into prominence recently as a result of terrible floods in the summer of 2004. In the village there is a pottery, a museum of witchcraft and several gift shops. A footpath to the left of the quayside will take you to the 'Lookout' which is a wonderful vantage point from which to view the rugged coastline. Boscastle was once a favourite meeting place of the author Thomas Hardy, and is the location for one of his novels 'A Pair of Blue Eyes'. Boat trips can be taken from the harbour as far as Long Island, where during the breeding season you may see razorbills, puffins & guillemots. There is a demanding 7 mile coastal path walk between Boscastle and Crackington Haven. There are several attractions along this stretch of coast including Strangles beach at the bottom of a large landslip with a rock arch the Northern Door. Just south of here is High Cliff which is the highest point on the Cornish coast path. Don't forget to visit Pentargon inlet which has an imposing waterfall that cascades down to the sea below.Trethevy is a delightful hamlet, equidistant from Boscastle and Tintagel and has a history which may well go back to 250 AD when a granite post was inscribed with C DOMI N GALLO ET VOLUS – ‘For the Emperor Caesars our lords Gallus and Volusian' this can now be found outside St Piran a former monastery and now private residence, Trethevy is also home to St Nectans Glen a beautiful valley where the River Trevillet has carved its way through the slate and formed a beautiful 60' waterfall.Brown Willy and Roughtor are two fantastic tors and excellent walks, being the highest points in Cornwall the views are stupendous. Bowithick is also worth a visit to marvel at it's quirky bridge and history that dates back to the Domesday book.On Bodmin Moor, Dozmary pond is thought to contain Arthur's Excalibur, and Merlin is thought to be still found walking under Tintagel Island. Camelford is a great centre for touring, walking, fishing, swimming or surfing holidays. The town is steeped in history and has excellent shopping and sporting facilities. Port Isaac is the location of the televisions series Poldark and more recently Doc Martin, as well as being a gorgeous working fishing village. Bodmin Jail built in 1778, notorious for its public executions by hanging, was the first jail to be built housing inmates in individual cells. The Jail closed in 1927 and is now a museum open to the public, which during the First World War housed the Crown Jewels and the Doomsday Book. The famous Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths for 18 miles, providing the whole family with a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge, and out to Padstow where you can sample Rick Steins famous Fish and Chips. The market town of Launceston was the historic capital of Cornwall and well worth a visit to see the church of St Mary Magdelene, with granite carvings, unusual among Cornish churches, the Norman Castle and a wide variety of independent shops and cafes.

The highest village in Cornwall is Minions which is a mere 4 miles from Lestitha Farm on the south east corner of Bodmin Moor, and has a wealth of ancient archeological sites dating from the early bronze age onwards and they are really popular with walkers and hikers, these include the Hurlers, three stone circles dated at around 1500 BC, a line through the centre of them brings you to Rillaton Barrow a large burial mound. Alternatively on the top of Stowes Hill, overlooking Minions, you can see the Cheesering, a natural formation of balancing stones formed during the last ice age and by thousands of years of erosion, the name derives from the shape of the stones and will become patently obvious on viewing! The ancient stannary town of Liskeard is at the head of the Looe Valley and is approximately 12 miles east of Bodmin. Liskeard is one of the few remaining towns in Cornwall to still have a livestock market. It serves a number of small surrounding villages and is the gateway to Bodmin Moor. Liskeard is also the starting point of the Liskeard to Looe railway, one of the most scenic railway trips in the country and a delightful day out! Bodmin Moor, bisected by the newly expanded A 30 is home to one of Cornwall's Areas of Oustanding Natural Beauty. Reaching a height of 1,377 feet above sea level at Brown Willy, Cornwall's highest point. The heather covered granite moorland provides East Cornwall with the most stunning country views and rugged walks. Near Blisland you will find two of Cornwall's stone circles, the Trippet Stones and Stripple Stone Henge and just round the corner, one end of the famous Camel Trail. The 18 mile Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths, providing a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge out to Padstow, eminently suitable for families. The National Lobster Hatchery at Padstow neighbours Rick Steins empire on the North Coast. The Bodmin and Wenford Railway, the first steam operated railway in Cornwall, takes in 13 miles of countryside. Also just outside Bodmin is the Camel Valley Vineyard who have been winning awards for their home grown wine for the past 20 years. The National Trust have a number of properties nearby - Lanhydrock House, Trerice, Cotehele and Antony (used for Disney's Alice in Wonderland), Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps. Slightly further afield is the Eden Project in St Austell. Bodmin Jail built in 1778, notorious for its public executions by hanging, was the first jail to be built housing inmates in individual cells. The Jail closed in 1927 and is now a museum open to the public, which during the First World War housed the Crown Jewels and the Doomsday Book. To the east is the Tamar Valley, a stunning, quiet, picturesque region with some beautiful villages including Calstock with its impressive Viaduct dominating the village, Calstock Quay was originally used for transportation of tin as there is a deep water navigable channel at the top of the tides, although the construction of the Tamar Valley Railway in the early 20th century led to most cargo being transported by rail. Further up stream is Morwellham Quay with its fantastic open air museum, Morwellham Quay has been awarded World Heritage Site status by UNESCO, the cultural arm of the UN, and is part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape. Originally set up by the Benedictine Monks from Tavistock Abbey in 961 as a trading route to Plymouth via the Tamar. Tavistock is an ancient stannary and market town on the edge of Dartmoor and just across the border in Devon, it has a wealth of fine pubs, restaurants, supermarkets and tourist attractions.

You will receive a truly warm welcome here at Little Shippen Cottage. This is a cosy studio apartment in the heart of the countryside. Your front door will lead you directly into the woods. There is a double bed, dining table and chairs and the kitchen is adjacent. There is a modern shower room. Guests are welcome to explore our enchanting woods and stream side walk. We are next to Deer Park Forest and a 20 minute drive to stunning beaches including Talland Bay and Lansallos.
This gorgeous studio apartment was built as a mine workers cottage in the mid 1800s and formed part of the North Herodsfoot mine which is famous for lead and silver. Right outside the door, you will hear the sounds of the stream trickling by - such a relaxing sound. With the owls hooting in the evening, and the tranquil location, you truly feel like you've got away from it all.
Our village is wonderful and we regularly hold village events including beetle drives, pop up pub, coffee mornings and quiz nights

The Studio is an annexe of our house with a king size bedroom and en-suite bath, and has its own private entrance from its designated parking space, through the garden and to the French doors into the room. Here’s some of the details on this Cornish hideaway. - Private access - Designated parking space - King size bed (or two singles if requested in advance) - En-suite bathroom with full bath, shower over, lots of towels, airing cupboard, hair drier, iron and compact ironing board, chest of drawers and basic toiletries - At one end of the main room is a small dining area with table and chairs - Small refrigerator for milk and other necessities - Toaster - Plates, cutlery, coffee cups, wine glasses and water filter - Tea, coffee, sugar, milk and croissants for first morning are provided as well as a selection of cereal boxes – so you don’t need to think about breakfast for your first morning with us. Right outside your door is a granite paved patio with garden furniture and a chiminea for warmth on chilly evenings, so make yourself a cup of coffee and sit out in the sun and enjoy the tranquility of our idyll. You also have use of our lawn but please note there is a sunken feature in the garden we affectionally call the sump with a small trickle of a river running through it. We rarely come into the back garden so you can feel very private there. PARKING You have your own parking space for the Artists Studio which leads right into the back garden and to the door to the room. EATING OUT There are no cooking facilities provided but there is a small fridge and a toaster, you are welcome to bring supplies and eat in the studio, but if you would like to eat out the nearest is the Blisland Inn which is a 2 minute walk away, they do good pub classics and a superb Sunday lunch (book ahead for that). Within a 6 mile radius you have other pub grub options, St Tudy Inn has a very well though of restaurant that has received Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2017. The St Maybyn Inn is also known for their food and the S Breward Inn has a famous carvery. If you fancy a fancy meal, Rick Stein’s at Padstow is only 15 miles away. GREAT FOR COUPLES- The Studio is the perfect size for a couple wanting a getaway to the countryside and enjoy a little peace and quiet, and with the pub just next door you need never leave the centre of Blisland if you don't feel like it. GREAT FOR CYCLISTS – The Studio is on national Cycle Route 3 and lies less that a mile from the Camel Trail an 18 mile off road permissive way that runs along the River Camel from St Breward to Padstow along an old railway track. The Camel Trail is used by cyclists, walkers, joggers and horseriders. If you like a more demanding route we are only a mile away from Bodmin Moor where you can cycle for hours and hours. For trail riders there is the new mountainbiking trails at Cardinham Woods and Lanhydrock. GREAT FOR WALKERS – The Artists Studio is just off Bodmin Moor with hundreds of miles of footpaths and ancient monuments to explore including Neolithic hut circles, stone circles, ancient field systems and the 1000’s of years of habitation remains at Roughtor and Brown Willy. We are also within easy reach by car of the Cornish Coast Path with 100’s of miles of coastline walks GREAT FOR NATIONAL TRUST MEMBERS – We are about 6 miles away from Lanhydrock one of the Trusts most popular stately homes as well as many other Trust properties. GREAT FOR SURFERS, BEACHLOVERS AND WILD SWIMMING ENTHUSIASTS – The Studio is a half hour drive from Polzeath Beach with fantastic surf and lots of surfboard and wetsuit hire options as well as boutiques and restaurants. We are also not far from the fantastic surfing beaches of the Newquay area and within easy reach of the more gentle beaches along the south coast if you enjoy wild swimming. GREAT FOR EXPLORERS – If you enjoy visiting quaint fishing villages like Port Isaac – where Dr Martin is filmed, Padstow or Fowey – Daphne DeMaurier’s old haunt then this is a good base to explore from.
Blisand is in the heartland of North Cornwall, Bodmin Moor, where you will find hundreds of miles of trails and where herds of wild ponies roam free. Bodmin Moor is littered with Neolithic sites and mysterious stone circles. Because of our central Cornwall location we are near both the North and South coasts so if you love surfing head North to Polzeath or Newquay or if you prefer a gentler seaside experience head south to explore the coves and villages around Fowey and Mevagissey. If you are a fan of Doc Martin and Poldark lots of filming sites are within easy reach of us such as Port Isaac the location of fictional Port Wenn and Poldark's house is up on the moor only 3 miles from us. If your kind of holiday involves roaring fires and good food there are many wonderful pubs and restaurants near us and I am happy to make recommendations.

Dozmary Pool is one of the sites that lay claim to be the home of the Lady of the Lake, where King Arthur rowed out to meet her and receive Excalibur, it is also thought to be where Sir Bedeveer returned Excalibur when King Arthur lay dying after the battle of Camlaan. Whatever the truth it is a stunning spot! King Arthurs influence stretches all the way to Tintagel where the castle could have been the legendary Camelot and the finding of 'Arthurs Stone' in 1998 has only fuelled these myths. - Merlin is thought to be still found walking under Tintagel Island.North Cornwall is as famous for its rugged coastline as it is for its surfing. You can hire surf boards and equipment from Polzeath, up as far as Bude and Widemouth Bay. Boscastle is the only natural harbour for 20 miles and at low tides and certain weather conditions you can find a blowhole at the mouth of the harbour. Lamellen Lodge is situated about a mile from St Tudy a quaint Cornish village, the church around which the village was built was first constructed in the 6th century and then rebuilt in the 11th, 15th and latterly 19th centuries, the village has been built around the original Celtic circular raised graveyard - known locally as "God's Acre!" St Tudy is believed to be the birthplace of Captain Bligh of the "Mutiny on the Bounty" fame! The St Tudy Inn (formerly the Cornish Arms) will welcome you in for a refreshing drink, a hearty meal or both!Wadebridge was originally a market town. It has an amazing 15th century bridge with 17 arches over the River Camel, which is definitely worth a visit. It is said the bridge was built on wool as this was how the wealthy landowners in the area made their money. From the day the bridge was built the town became known as Wadebridge. The Royal Cornwall Show ground at Wadebridge hosts the county show every June, come rain or shine, opened each year by a member of the Royal Family. Cornish Farmers have had to diversify in recent years and so has the show, but they have kept their traditional roots with steam engines being shown next to the shiny new high-tech tractors. It's not every day you get to see formation JCB digger dancing in the main ring. Both Wadebridge and nearby Camelford are centrally located in order to explore the nearby hills and moors. Wadebridge is the perfect base, being the half way point, from which to discover the Camel Trail, a walk and cycle track following the old railway route from Bodmin to Padstow. There is wonderful scenery and plenty of wildlife, including fantastic sightings of wading birds to see on this serene trail and bikes can be hired from Bodmin, Wadebridge or Padstow. From Padstow you could take a boat trip across the Camel Estuary to Rock, and lounge on the beautiful beach that stretches all the way around to Daymer Bay. The National Lobster Hatchery neighbours Rick Steins empire in Padstow. The National Trust have three properties nearby, Lanhydrock House, Trerice and Carnewas and the dramatic cliffs and beach at Bedruthan Steps. Or if you fancy something different try a tour around the Camel Valley Vineyard, Cornish Wine has been growing in stature around the world and their sparkling wines are truly stunning, having picked up lots of international awards, go for a tasting you will not be disappointed!Bodmin Moor is a couple of miles away to the East and is dominated by large granite tors which tower over sweeping expanses of moorland. Bodmin Moor has engendered fear and awe throughout history and hence provided inspiration for writers, poets and sculptors. Standing stones, burial chambers, clapper bridges cottages and farms across the moor give a hint of the 4000 years of human development ever since Bronze Age farmers first arrived.Port Isaac is about 4 miles to the North West and this has recently been the base of filming for "Doc Martin" with Martin Clunes, there are a good selection of cafes shops and pubs. Further up the coast there are all of the golden beaches and coves between Polzeath and Tintagel with some of the best surf in Europe.Bodmin lies a few miles to South West and has a large selection of supermarkets, shops and restaurants.

Trethevy is a delightful hamlet, equidistant from Boscastle and Tintagel and has a history which may well go back to 250 AD when a granite post was inscribed with C DOMI N GALLO ET VOLUS – ‘For the Emperor Caesars our lords Gallus and Volusian' this can now be found outside St Piran a former monastery and now private residence, Trethevy is also home to St Nectans Glen a beautiful valley where the River Trevillet has carved its way through the slate and formed a beautiful 60' waterfall.Boscastle is a tiny port set in a narrow ravine, the town came into prominence recently as a result of terrible floods in the summer of 2004. Bodmin was the former county town of Cornwall for many years and the only Cornish town to be recorded in the Domesday Book, which was lodged in the town's prison during the First World War. The county prison is now a museum and open to the public. It was the first prison in the country to have separate cells. The oldest part of the town is made up of mainly granite buildings clustered around the Bodmin Beacon. The Beacon is a 144 feet tall obelisk in memory of Sir Walter Raleigh Gilbert. The area around the Beacon which has woodland and traditional hay meadow was declared a Local Nature Reserve in 1994.Nearby Bodmin Moor, bisected by the newly expanded A30 is home to one of Cornwalls Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Reaching a height of 1,377 feet above sea level at Brown Willy, Cornwalls highest point. The heather covered granite moorland provides East Cornwall with the most stunning country views and rugged walks. Near Blisland you will find two of Cornwalls stone circles, the Trippet Stones and Stripple Stone Henge and just round the corner, one end of the famous Camel Trail. The 18 mile Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths, providing a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge out to Padstow, eminently suitable for families.

Off the beaten track yet just 3 miles from Padstow... Quiet & cosy single storey cottage with double bedroom, bathroom & open plan kitchen/dining/living area. Small 2nd bedroom has narrow 2'6" built-in bunks (suitable for kids only). Situated just behind our house on The Saints Way, surrounded rolling Cornish countryside. St Issey is located 3 miles from the beautiful fishing port of Padstow, a foodie heaven. The famous "7 Bays for 7 days" & the Camel Trail are all within 12 minutes drive. Wi-fi
The cottage has a cosy, open-plan living/dining/kitchen with electric cooker & microwave. There is a king size double bedroom & small bunk room. The bunks are 2'6" wide (normal single beds are 3") so really suitable for children only, though small adults have stayed in them. There is a large bathroom with bath with shower over & a washing machine. The cottage is centrally heated with radiators. We finally have Wi-Fi too!
The cottage is just behind our house, but has it's own drive way. We're on one side of a river valley (well a stream valley!) & there are lovely views across the fields to St Issey church. We're off the beaten track but can be in the centre of Padstow within 5 minutes.
