Food Scene

This is my favorite (and the best) restaurant in town. Up for a James Beard award, Chase's Daily is both a bakery and a restaurant. They only serve meals at specific times, so just double check before you go. If you're here on Fridays, the Friday night dinner is awesome.

This place is owned by really nice people and makes a good pit-stop if you're on your way to Acadia (or it's just 10mins from Belfast). Best croissants I've ever had, and I went to Paris last year.

Best soup in town, she also has awesome sandwiches. She has two tables, but it's more of a takeout place. Courtney is also ridiculously nice. I go here for lunch everyday and this is sort of where you find out everything that's going on in town.

Sightseeing

This is a skyline (if Belfast were to have a skyline) view of Belfast. Less than 2mins from the apartment and a really nice walk along the water in the summer. Or a very bitter windy walk in the winter- but still worth it for the pictures.

If you're coming/going from the South I would recommend taking Rt 1 one-way and taking Rt 52 back. No one really knows about Rt 52, so in the summer (when Rt 1 can suck) you could take this instead. It's a really nice scenic route of inland Maine too.

Shopping

This is a hilarious shop with things that you won't find anywhere else. Excellent cards.

This is the oldest shoe store in America, so that's kind of cool.

This is the best bookstore ever. I go here every Sunday after breakfast at Chase's Daily.

You should be buying wine here, picking up a sandwich at Daily Soup, a fresh baked baguette at Chase's Daily and spreading a picnic blanket on the ground of Heritage Park by the water. THEN you could go rowing in the harbor for free with Come Boating! Try Eat More Cheese's chocolate-covered lemons, they're expensive, but delightful.

This is kind of our 'big' department store. If you need to buy cheap socks or something you could go here. Reny's is a small Maine chain.

Parks & Nature

This lake is right off of Rt. 52 (literally on it). This is where we go swimming in the summer, because there's usually not anyone there. The water is pristine and you can just pull over and jump in. There isn't exactly a beach, more of a rocky shoreline, but it's still stunning and refreshing (and way warmer than the ocean).

Just a cute place for a picnic by the water. I lay here after a long day, plug in my headphones and take a nap. There's also a tiny beach and the water is fine to swim in. It's Maine, so even though there's a shipyard not far away, pretty much all the water is safe to swim in.

One of my favorite Maine things is to forage my dinner. I go down here with a mason jar and pick periwinkles. once the jar is full, I take them home and saute them in garlic butter. Use a needle to pluck them out of their shells. Taste just like escargot. Also the best sunrise spot.
