Zoo beach is just a little further down and we like to walk even further than that along the bike path to trek the beachy areas with trees and walk on the causeway rocks that jut into the water.

This restaurant is features on national lists for best diners. It's an old rail car transformed into diner. The wait can be long, and you stand in tight space while you wait. But it's always worth it and they never rush you out. The staff is purposely rude..."Order what you want, eat what you get," kind of vibe. They are known for their garbage plate (always ask for jalapenos to be added...the best! and choose the homemade toast with it.) Pancakes are the size of your head and can feed the whole table. Don't wear your favorite coat as you will need to air out your clothing afterwards (has that tight quarters greasy smell)....but some of you know exactly how good the food will be just by hearing that.

Here's our favs in Milwaukee. If you need more options check out my sister's recommendations in this list (she still lives in the city and keeps me updated):
Swinging Door, Groppi's Italian Market, South Shore Terrace Beer Garden for the summer months (kid and dog friendly), Honey Pie, Beans and Barley, Maxie's Southern Comfort.
Bars: Palm (best liquor selection in the city), Boone and Crocket (taco truck outside), At Random, Bryan'ts (best date place!), Burnhearts (tried and true Milwaukee hole in the wall with a great selection).
Our favorite farm-to-table restaurant in Milwaukee! Never disappointed with the food, affordable small plates, killer craft cocktails....and nothing beats the rooftop patio view on a summer night.

Inside the bar and lobby are luxurious and fun...outside patio is exceptionally beautiful with plush seating, beautiful landscaping and amazing city views. Patio menu is casual food with midwest favorite like a brat on pretzel roll or deep fried cheese curds.

Walk down to the beach at the end of the street when you're done. One of the nicest beaches in town. Free street parking.

Located in Petrified Springs Park which has multiple hiking trails and playgrounds, the beirgarten is adjacent to mature trees and wide open spaces where even your littlest kids can run and play while you sit and enjoy a German beer, brat or pretzel. Seriously, if the weather is nice....check it out. The firepits get lit at night and Fridays are movie in the park nights during the summer.
