The Castle of Platamonas, a castle of Frankish domination, built in the fortified city of the Middle Byzantine period, southeast of Olympus, a short distance from the current town of Platamonas, in the position of a strategy that controls the road of Macedonia - Thessaly - South Greece. It is the best preserved castle of northern-central Greece.

Dion was an ancient city of strategic importance and one of the most famous Macedonian states. The geographical location of ancient Dion is located at the eastern foothills of Mount Olympus, where the homonymous town is today. The city had a system of vertically intersecting streets, which were paved in the imperial years. In the southern part of the city were the public baths, the Great Therms, which date from 200 AD. Next to the Conservatory and in the eastern section is the impressive Dionysus Mansion, with the mosaics. In the center of the city is the Episcopal basilica of the 4th century AD. and outside the walls the 5th-century cemetery basilica.
