Parks & Nature
Thumb Butte is a local landmark and has a great hiking trail. You can "do the loop" in under an hour and get some great views along the way. Thumb Butte is visible from my house, close and easy to get to. Thumb butte recreation area. The loop is trail 333. Another favorite is Trail 315.

Just a pretty mountain lake in the forest outside of Prescott. Easy to find, easy walking trail around the lake. Go early to avoid the crowd.

National Forest access, tons of trails and the Thumb Butte trail which offers a beautiful long distance view of the area. This is 1.8 miles (5 minutes) from my house.

Local buildings from the late 1800's were moved to this location by a visionary, Sharlot Hall, who saw that town was changing and these historically important buildings would be lost in her own time. There is a living history event, cowboy poet gatherings and other events that happen here throughout the year.
