Walks
Ideas for some really pretty coastal walks
Why not follow the coastal path from Ventnor round to Shanklin or beyond, if you go to Shanklin the walk will be about 2 miles and is so pretty, apart from stunning sea views you will pass through a wood land see plenty of wildlife and waterfalls. There is also a pretty little Church en route at St Boniface.
With a family at a very leisurely pace this walk I would advise that you should give yourself a couple of hours.
Should you want to get a bus back from Shanklin the No 3 runs a fairly regular service.

Sightseeing
St Catherine's is one of the oldest lighthouse locations in Britain
It is located in the most southerly point of the Island called St Catherine's Point
It is a bit of a walk (around 15 minutes down to the Lighthouse from The Buddle Inn) but well worth it, so many amazing views and if you choose a guided tour around the Lighthouse, which does involve a small fee but the tour takes about 40 minutes and is very informative and is suitable for all of the family.
Tip: Make sure you check the opening hours before going
2nd Tip
Just a short walk from The Light House you will come to The Beach Cafe, you can get Tea's, Ice Creams and Snacks

Fascinating insight into the brilliant service the RNLI give us, run by volunteers who give a great brilliant understanding on what our Sea Heros do both past and present, the working Life Boat is present to see and there is lots of information sheets and videos. Suitable for both young and old alike.
Its free to go and see and there is a small RNLI shop and a pay and display car park.
After visiting the Life boat station why not take a stroll down the sandy beach which has plenty of rock pools if you fancy a bit of crabbing!
