Sightseeing

Historic Downtown Flagstaff: (Between Butler Ave. & Dale Ave., and between Humphreys St. & Verde St – 8 block x 5 block area north and south of the railroad tracks)). Be sure to spend some time walking around the historic downtown area, and note the historic plaques on many of the buildings. There are several good Native American crafts shops and outdoor clothing & supplies stores (see “Shopping” section), and numerous good restaurants (see “Dining” section). On weekends there are frequently events on Heritage Square (free) and pop concerts at the Orpheum Theater. Parking can be difficult; visitor parking lots are located off Beaver Street just south of the tracks and along Phoenix Avenue nearby, and there is an underground pay parking lot on the east side of San Francisco in the second block north of the tracks. All parking in the downtown area is pay parking ($1 per hour); enter your license plate number and pay with a credit card at a nearby kiosk. Several of the streets are one way, so drive carefully.
