Mehrangarh Fort stands a hundred feet in splendor on a perpendicular cliff, four hundred feet above the sky line of Jodhpur. Today, it is acknowledged as one of the best preserved fort in India.

Stepwells ensured the availability of water during periods of drought and served as perennial water sources in desert lands. The women of the villages would often go to the 'Bavaris' to draw water from the well through the Persian wheel. The stone-lined 'stepwells' provided respite from the desert sun and became a venue for cultural celebrations for the village people.
