Worth going for its snorkelling. Many varieties of fish and a hidden beach off to the side. Go very early as the beach goers disturb the proximity of the fish to the shore. Have swam next a dolphin there myself.

High up on the list of any visit to Trinidad should be Gasparee caves. Not only on account of the caves themselves but the boat ride opportunity it offers getting there and back. What makes this cave so appealing is its unique translucent blue pond, which has an average depth of 10-20 feet. Through an underground source, seawater emerges into the cave to form a natural pool.

Formerly called La Vigie, Fort George is situated on the hills to the North of St. James overlooking the Gulf of Paria. The fort, which was part of a complex of fortifications, is the best destination for one of the most spectacular views of Port of Spain and the sea. In addition to the beautiful vista at this well persevered structure one can see the original cannons, dungeons, artefacts of the day and a signal station which was established in 1802 and designed by Prince Kofi Nti, son of King Kofi Calclai of Ashanti, West Africa.

While endlessly popular and right to the top of Trinidad's 'must try' list, as apex predators, sharks are of high importance for the ocean as an eco system. Through overfishing, many shark species are endangered, the demand for shark meat in Trinidad is difficult to meet and often catfish and ray are used as substitutes and are declared incorrectly. Still there are other options on the menu.
