The council invested money in Roker several years ago and is now the perfect place to spend an afternoon or morning with beach walks extending along the pier and several coffee shops or eateries to visit too.
There is the option for water sports and my favourite cafe Faustos will give 10% discount to cyclists too.

Great views from the top and lovely woodland walks around the back. Opposite to Penshaw you also have the lovely Herrington Park with several walks that zig zag their way around the site.
There are 2 cafes located nearby, one near to the monument on the road you park on and the other one in Herrington Park itself, where you’ll also find public toilets which are pretty decent!
