Guidebook for Army Bay
Parks & Nature
It's an amazing regional park with 365 degree views of the Hauraki Gulf and surrounding areas when you walk to the look-out platform at it's top. It also boasts a beautiful white sand beach and an amazing sub-tropical bush walk at it's lower northern base.
The Park is home to three walkways, Heritage Trail, Lookout Track and Tiri Tiri Track. Much of the coastline is lined by sandstone cliffs, which shelter the beach-lined Te Haruhi Bay. At the Park's western border, a narrow lowland separates Okoromai and Army Bays.
Together with New Zealand Defence Force land to the north, most of the Park lies within the Shakespear Open Sanctuary. A 1.7-kilometre (1.1 mi) pest/predator-proof fence (completed March 2011) across the peninsula between protects the park's wildlife.This includes resident invertebrates and lizards, along with birds migrating from the nearby Tiritiri Matangi island sanctuary.

Food Scene
Restaurant quality food and great coffee, makes this a great place for breakfast & lunch. We just wish they were open for dinner!

Cool southern American style cooking for something a little different from the typical Thai & Indian restaurants around the coast (although we should mention it appears run by the same family as the indian place next door ;-)

Sightseeing
First point of entry if you take the fairy from Auckland. There's a great many beautiful boats parked in the Marina and a resident stingray who cruises around the wharf. There's also Ripples Cafe if you get peckish.

Cool little market that only runs on Sundays. In the summer you can jump off the wharf if you're feeling adventurous or grab a coffee during the winter and peruse the many stalls for arts and crafts or fresh fruit and veggie.

This is a great place to grab any necessary bits like tooth brushes or cookies. There's also a fish 'n' chip shop if you want something quick and easy within strolling distance from your room. Definitely try the oysters if you're partial.
