They also have a few businesses that rent the colorful little buildings out in back, including a small hair salon and my favorite, a place where they serve ice cream sandwiches on donuts and waffles!

The patio area is a nice place to relax with a good book. They sell individual slices of pizza as well as full pizzas and often have unique and delicious specialty pizzas.

The fair comes to Arizona every fall and you are right around the corner from the fairgrounds! The fairgrounds also have concerts and events throughout the year. I recommend going to www.azstatefair.com to see if any events will be there during your stay.

Sightseeing
I recommend driving along the Apache Trail, especially if you are out of state! The drive is beautiful and full of cacti, canyons, and lake views. Drive by (and perhaps swim in or camp out at) Canyon Lake on your way to Tortilla Flats. You will also pass Superstition Mountain (a great place with a variety of hikes, both easy and more advanced) as well as the Superstition Mountain Museum. Tortilla Flat is a restaurant on the Apache Trail with a Wild West theme. I recommend the Prickly Pear Gelato in the store next door!

Drive by (and perhaps swim in or camp out at) Canyon Lake on your way to Tortilla Flats. You will also pass Superstition Mountain (a great place with a variety of hikes, both easy and more advanced) as well as the Superstition Mountain Museum. Parks & Nature
The view from atop Camelback Mountain is beautiful! It does take a couple of hours to hike up and down and can be strenuous at times so I recommend taking a lot of water and planning accordingly.

This is a fun summer activity in Phoenix. It is 17 dollars per person to rent a tube, park, and take a shuttle bus that drops you off at the river and picks you up at a different location down the river. Go to www.saltrivertubing.com because they often have information about coupons and special events. I recommend bringing a cooler of waters and beer as well as a trash bag of some sort to put cans and bottles in. You may even get a glimpse of wild horses while you are here!

I recommend bringing a cooler of waters and beer as well as a trash bag of some sort to put cans and bottles in. You may even get a glimpse of wild horses while you are here!
Sedona is gorgeous and I highly recommend taking a day trip to visit this town! Slide Rock State Park is a personal favorite. I often come here with a picnic basket and spend the day swimming and sliding down the rocks into the water!
