Phu Le Temple is one of twenty oldest and lardgest communal houses inPHU LE COMMUNAL HOUSE Ben Tre, locating in Phu Khong Hamlet, Phu Le Commune, Ba Tri District, 40 kilometers from Ben Tre City and 4 kilometers from Ba Tri Town. In 1826, it was built in a high land area in the shape of the Chinese character “Dinh” (ie. 4th heaven stem). The temple consists of 6 main compartments and 4 secondary others. Phu Le Temple was ranked as a historical and cultural vestige at national level in 1993. Ky Yen (pray for peace) Festival (15th of lunar marck) and Te Thu (pray for good crop) Festival (in the middle of lunar Novemeber) are held here yearly.

An Duc Commune, Ba Tri District was the final destination ofNDC- (1) Nguyen Dinh Chieu’s family (1822 – 1888). He is seen as the pioneer among the insurgents in the movement of fighting against the French and famous with his story-poem titled “Luc Van Tien”. He was a righteous image of Dong Nai people and seen as a faithful and stable Confucian scholar, an exemplary teacher, a benevolent physician.. He passed away and laid to rest in this beloved land. This memorial area is nowadays embellished and restored as a temple on the ranking of national construction. It looks spacious, imposing and solemn.
