Very popular Australian style brunch spot. The early bird catches the worm, after 10am the place gets busy fast and you’re almost guaranteed to wait for a table. Pleasant, cosmopolitan vibe. Good coffee, modern and clean food. Personal faves: salmon stack, huevos rancheros with extra chorizo, lemon-pistachio cake, orange-tumeric juice.

Omelegg: a play on omelette and egg (obvs)... Not surprisingly, the dishes on the menu are egg-heavy: omelettes, shakshuka, eggs Benedict, scrambled or fried eggs… it’s more or less Hangover Heaven. Go early, otherwise will wait for a table.

Dignita Hoftuin

This is a lovely place to be with its floor-to-ceiling glass windows and green setting in a small park only a stone’s throw away from Waterlooplein. Their plates are pretty, healthy and interesting. I am a fan of their ‘Forrest Dweller’ plate and their freshly baked croissants.

Multi-story Chinese dim sum place in the heart of the Red Light District. This a fun lunch spot and great place to line the stomach after or before a heavy night out.
