The restaurant is laid back and right on the beach, great Sunday brunch, or lunch or dinner. Also the best snorkelling on the island is at your footsteps.

This is the best sushi on the island and is owned by a local fisherman, so the fish is always fresh! Don't bother with salmon is its more expensive because it is imported! Go with the local fish! Both eat in and takeaway. 10 min drive from the villa or you can call and they will deliver!

The Calabash has one of the finest restaurants on the Island. Rhodes at the Calabash is owned by Gary Rhodes who is a famous UK chef. The beach bar is also lovely for a cocktail or local inspired lunch. Tip, there is great snorkelling just along the rocks on the right hand side of the beach.

This is a great place to grab a cold Carib beer and a stone baked pizza, they have daily happy hour and 2 for 1 pizza deals on Tuesdays. On the weekends there is often live music and sometimes the local pan band plays. Its all good fun, be warned, the drinks are strong! You may want to take a cab home!

Every friday night Gouyave has "fish fridays" which is a lively food and music scene that is VERY Caribbean and on most peoples list of things to do in Grenada. It is best that you hire a driver as you won't want to drive back at night after having drinks as the roads are very twisty. I can organise a driver for you, just ask.

Essentials

One of two local grocery stores in 10 minutes drive from the villa. You will find a good selection of local produce as well as the basics. Ask what day they have their grocery delivery as that is when you will get the freshest items.

The other local grocery store, this again about 10 minutes drive. Not as well stocked as IGA, but still a decent store. Outside there is a lovely fruit and vegetable stand where you can buy local Grenada produce. Look for mangos in season as well as pears (that is what they call avocados) and local bananas.

Shopping

St. Georges is the capital of Grenada located on one of the last remaining unspoiled deep harbour bays in the Caribbean. There are lots of local shops, from artists to local crafts and restaurants to explore including the famous spice market and fish market. It is vibrant and colourful and unmistakably Grenadian. I would recommend going either in the morning as it gets very hot in the midday sun.

If you stay on the island for a week you will eventually drive around the entire island. This is worth a stop as it is stunningly beautiful. It is on the Atlantic side but the rock formations protect the beach so it makes for a calm place where locals like to go for a dip.

On your circumnavigation of the island this is a must see! There is a beautiful lake and hiking trails, if you are a bit adventurous you can hike about an hour to Seven Sisters falls. This is not for the faint hearted! It is tough hiking, just ask at the National Park and they will let you know how to find Seven Sisters.
