It has the best sweet and savory waffles in the world. It has been there forever. I used to go there as a child. Back then it was called the 'Tea House of the Blue Lagoon'. Today there is far greater variety in your choice of toppings, but the old waffle has not changed and remains completely delicious to eat. There are often queues during high holiday season, so if you don't like standing around, it is essential to make a reservation.

The food at this restaurant is simply delicious and the setting is romantic and beautiful (remember to put on some mosquito repellent before you go, as it's situated on a river). The views are lovely and if you choose to sit outside, you can hear the sea.

The view of the sea, beach and surrounding vegetation is spectacular. This restaurant overlooks the lagoon and local swimming beach and is great for families and kids. The staff is extremely accommodating and friendly. During the day, whether you are full of sea-sand, wearing flip-flops, a wet swimming costume or running attire, you are welcome at Riptide. It must be one of the most gorgeous settings for a restaurant and, I have been to many places all over the world.

Entertainment & Activities
Visiting the Farm is a MUST. Not only for children, the Farm offers an education about crocodiles including their link to birds in an evolutionary sense. The talks are fascinating and children get an opportunity to hold young baby crocodiles on set days of the week. I must say, going there year after year after year... to make my son happy, and to re-educate (re-mind) myself of the wonders of the crocodile, one of my favourite delight's became the scones and jam that we would have at the tea room after visiting the crocodiles.

It's out in the sun, requires lots of running, jumping, lining-up, splashing, swimming and racing and is action packed. No sitting. No high-tech gadgets. When you get home, everyone sleeps easily and early.

As much as I dreaded the response to my question... what do you guys feel like doing this holiday... because Water Waves Water Park would always get a mention, children really do enjoy it. It's out in the sun, requires lots of running, jumping, lining-up, splashing, swimming and racing and is action packed. No sitting. No high-tech gadgets. When you get home, everyone sleeps easily and early.
It has many extreme and less extreme activities you can engage in. It boasts the world's highest Gorge swing- you will feel this when you jump off the face of the waterfall and fall 55 story's into the Oribi Gorge. You can also do a 110m abseil, go down a foefie-slide and walk across a 85m suspension bridge which has views over some of the most spectacular terrain. You can also white river raft on the Umzimkhulu River, go paint-balling or go on guided birding and hiking trails. There is something for everybody. It's a MUST because the setting of the Gorge is just spectacular and not worth missing.

The reserve also offers more vigorous ways to enjoy its magnificence and scenery. It boasts the longest ZIPLINE (4.5km's) on the African continent, which stretches over the Oribi Gorge and has a thrilling 1km slide where speeds of 160kms are reached in this vertical drop. The reserve also has a restaurant with an outdoor deck that overlooks the game reserve.
