These guys have some seriously good wood smoked BBQ and all the fixin's. They also have Amish raised chicken. Their potato salad is really good, too.

This is hands down my favorite coffee to date. Slingshot is local to the area so get yourself some if you can. They sell it at Whole Foods here as well as at their shop. The hours are kinda unconventional at the shop so be sure to check that if you decide to visit. Their cold brew is out of site. I always have some here at the house if you want to try it.

This is a Korean BBQ joint. They have a sandwich called "The Crust." It's marinated pot roast with veggies and au gus. It is frickin' amazing. If you have to go to Durham for anything be sure to stop here for a Crust.

Entertainment & Activities
This is unquestionably the best spa in Raleigh. Full amenities in the locker room (wet and dry steam rooms, hot tub, showers, snacks, hygiene products, co-ed outdoor hot-tub and lounge, etc). I like to make a ressy to have brunch at the restaurant in the hotel (Heron's) and then go get a massage. Be sure to book in advance as they are always busy.

We love kayaking and we hit the Neuse river as much as we can in the summer. We put in at Falls of Neuse and get out at Buffalo Road. It's about a 7 hour float down a slow, lazy river. We always bring good food, good tunes, and the dogs, of course. :) It makes for a very rewarding day. There are places you can get out before Buffalo Road if you don't want to go the whole day.
Paddle Creek has kayak rentals, but I don't think you can go the whole way to Buffalo Road: https://paddlecreeknc.com/

I like this park because it has some great trails that go through the woods and along the lake. It's a little further away from my house than lake Wheeler, but I usually go here more frequently.
