Here once stood the Temple Prison where Louis XVI was imprisoned. The place was then destroyed by Napoleon but you can see a plaque on the wall of the town hall of the 3rd arrondissement.

Nice 19th century building which is a perfect match with the temple square across the street. The whole area north of rue de Bretage is almost pedestrian and very quiet
