Go back 300 hundred years to explore the plundering for Whale Oil and history of Sag Harbor’s Whaling Industry.
The great 1800s Whaling heritage of Sag Harbor is brought to life with a stroll through its museum.

“Visit the Elizabeth A. Morton National Wildlife Refuge for hiking and bird watching. You’ll likely see chipmunks, birds, wild turkeys, frogs and more during your time in the outdoor area. Be sure to hike the Wild Birds Nature Trail, which is 1.2 miles through wooded and beach areas in the refuge. The visitors’ center hosts family-friendly activities like arts and crafts on Saturdays during the summer months. The trail extends down to the bay waters. Bring along some bird seed. The small birds will eat straight from your hand or hat brim. The Refuge is open year-round from sunrise to sunset. Admission is $4 per vehicle and $2 per bicycle or per person (if walking into the area).”

“South Fork Natural History Museum in Bridgehampton, across from the Children’s Museum. SoFo, as it’s called, houses a butterfly garden, touch tank, nature trails, wildflower garden, and more. ”

“Foster Memorial Beach is a little rockier than ocean beaches, with shells and small rocks mixed in with the sand. Nevertheless, kids can go on treasure hunts for the prettiest shell while parents relax on a blanket. Bathrooms and showers are available, but a concession stand is not. An ice cream truck generally visits in the afternoon. Parking is $20 per day during the high season. Lifeguards are on duty from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Life guards are on duty in a limited area, 9-5 during the summer season. ”
