There’s 3 double/twin bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Downstairs is open plan traditional kitchen, dining area and living room with log burner. The cottage is a quiet family retreat, not suited to loud parties. Well behaved ponies (spare stable) & dogs welcome, dogs must be kept on lead near ponies & animals.

If more than two dogs an additional charge of £10 will be requested for cleaning. Please add at the booking stage if you intend to travel with your dog. Dogs must not be left unattended on the property.

The cosy guest suite includes a living room with TV, leather sofa and armchair, small dining table and 2 chairs. There is a compact kitchen area equipped with combination oven/microwave, hob, fridge and all essential crockery and cookware. The bedroom has an oak framed king size bed with matching bedside tables and is furnished with pine furniture, curtains and a blind. The shower room is spacious and is en suite to the bedroom. There is gas central heating and blinds to most of the windows.

1750's cottage with open fire and beams

Take it easy at this unique and cosy cottage with a real open fire and original beams. The cottage was constructed in approximately 1750 during the reign of George II. The cottage is constructed from wood and stone and there is not a straight wall, ceiling or door casing in the house! You learn very fast (after banging your head once or twice) to duck under the low door frames and beams. The cottage is small, quirky and very cosy but with a suprisingly large master bedroom and bathroom.

The Retreat is set in the heart of the Wrightington countryside. It is easy to get to, just a few minutes drive from J27 of the M6. Built on a working family run farm it offers stunning views from the living area that is based on the second floor. There are plenty of beautiful local walks in the area and places to eat and shop. Anyone wanting to visit the coast both Blackpool and Southport are within a 30 minute drive and cities like Preston, Manchester and Liverpool are also close by.

The annex, detached from the main house, is set within a beautiful landscaped garden. The spacious bedroom has a double bed and a Smart TV (you will also have to Sky, Netflix, Apple+, Paramount) the bathroom has a walk-in shower. The separate living area has a dining table, sofa and small fridge. Tea and coffee making facilities, cutlery and crockery (for takeaways etc.) are provided. Parking is at the front or side of the house. There is access to strong WiFI . Pets are welcome.
