Vallpineda (5 min from Sitges center) is a friendly neighborhood with 24/7 security surveillance and just a 20 min walk to the beach. Back takes 35 min as you will need to go uphill. Public bus to center of Sitges and other neighboring villages. From Sitges you can take the train or Bus to Barcelona (30-40 min away) and other towns. The Mon Bus to the airport only takes 30 min.
