Houndswood Farm

We have been told by people that driving the road to our farm feels like going back in time. We are located on a small narrow lane (boreen). Our beautiful farmyard is surrounded by magnificent dry stone walls that divide field boundaries and give you the link between past and present. We have worked hard over a number of years to convert the beautiful traditional stone outbuildings into modern comfortable accommodation for you to enjoy, we hope you like visiting as much as we like living here.

An ideal location to use as a base for the wild Atlantic way with Galway, Westport, Sligo less than an hours drive away. 15 km to Knock airport, 3 km to knock, 2 to Claremorris. The house offers a mix of modern and traditional features, with fully equipped kitchen, wood burner, oil central heating, WiFi and modern amenities.

Cosy Cottage

Kick back and relax in this calm, cosy space in the rolling countryside and just a 40 minute drive from Knock Airport. For something more lively there’s Westport and Castlebar, with their shops, bars and the beautiful coastline and beaches of the Wild Atlantic Way. The 2 friendly cats, Muffin and Bruce, prefer to live outside but like to say hello. When not away working, I stay in a chalet on a separate piece of land close by but not overlooking the cottage. I do respect guest privacy.

Hi I'm Kieran and I welcome you to our beautiful farm in rural Galway, where you can relax and unwind in peaceful surroundings and get to know some of our animals. Get to meet our world renowned cutest and friendliest sheep in the world the Valais Blacknose, our KuneKune pigs, donkeys, horses, cats and dogs, while staying in your own self contained farm annexe. Both rooms beautifully decorated and complete with ensuite shower rooms and full kitchen. I hope you enjoy your stay.

From the Castle one can enjoy boating and fishing, walking, riding and sightseeing, or just relax by the open hearth and contemplate the simple grandeur of this ancient dwelling, a rare and beautiful example of a fortified, medieval “hall house”.

Renovated Original Irish Cottage

This is a 100+ year old original Irish cottage that can accommodate six people, perched on a hilltop in a peaceful & idyllic location. With 360 degree views of the Irish countryside, you will stay in an area that is teaming with wildlife. It is where our grandparents grew up & has been extensively & lovingly renovated & extended by our parents to contain all the modern comforts while retaining many of the original cottage features & outbuildings.

Ballindooley Castle

The Castle rests on about half an acre of land with Ballindooley Lake lying to the south west. It is surrounded by low walls and hedges: with a gated entrance controlled by an electronic security system. Features include 3 murders holes and a dungeon The castle was built by the DeBurgo family (approximately 1480). It had the distinction of being shelled by the British Gunboat ” Helga” during the1916 Rising to disband rebels

Seaside cottage with spectacular views

Oystercatcher Cottage is situated in a stunning seaside location enjoying panoramic views over the Atlantic Ocean. It is an old cottage which has been renovated over the years while still maintaining it's rustic charm. It's located close to many beautiful beaches, in one of the most scenic spots along the Wild Atlantic Way in Connemara. The views from the cottage are simply breathtaking.

The Annex

Quaint, private double ensuite bedroom with adjoining sitting room with tea/coffee making facilities. Sleeps two adults. Located 14km from the nearest golf course, 16km from the Connacht Centre of Excellence, 9km from Gruane Pet Farm and Activity Centre, 21km from Knock Shrine and the ideal base to explore all that Mayo and the West of Ireland has to offer.
