Welcome to Aquila Cottage which is directly on the Hadrians Wall Path, Pennine Way and Cycleway Route 72. The cottage is in an unparallelled location just 150 yards from "the best bit" of Hadrians Wall at Walltown Crags and directly opposite the Roman Army Museum. There is a bus stop right (services include AD122) outside. We are perfectly located for walking, visiting the sites along Hadrians Wall, stargazing events at Walltown & Twice Brewed as well as visiting the lakes & Scottish Borders

WINDY HALL - Secluded luxury with stunning views

Windy Hall is somewhere very special. High in the Pennines it offers one of the most magnificent views in England. You may want to stay and enjoy the views & seclusion, but we are also ideally placed for day trips to the Lake District, the magnificent cathedral city of Durham, and Hadrian's Wall. Limited parking and access at the house means parking is 240m from the house so we will give you and your luggage a lift up on arrival. But don't let this put you off; please just read our reviews!

A magical rural hideaway close to Hadrian's Wall

Stonecrop is a much loved cottage and enjoys a tranquil setting with a large, attractive garden, situated in a stunning part of Northumberland. Guests are welcome to wander through our adjoining field to reach the banks of the river South Tyne. It was built in 1760 and has retained its original character whilst benefiting from all mod cons. Many guests return year after year and dogs are welcome too. Stonecrop is within easy reach of Hadrian’s Wall, the Yorkshire Dales, the Borders and Lakes.

Swinburne Castle

Swinburne Castle is perfectly situated within its own beautiful parkland and gardens. Traditionally decorated, parts of the house have tremendous history dating back to the 12th century. The east wing is extremely comfortable and private, and don't be perturbed by the stone steps leading down to the vaulted cellar. A delicious continental breakfast will be provided in your rooms. There is ample parking and a tennis court you are welcome to use. lovely footpaths from the house for keen walkers.

Skylark Seaview Studio

Welcome to our self-contained hilltop studio surrounded by fields and panoramic views over the Northumbrian coast. A place to unwind and reconnect with nature. Located within walking distance of a remote outstretched beach and just a few miles from the coastal village of Alnmouth and historical village of Warkworth. Alnmouth train station is only a 5 minute drive. From here you can travel directly to Edinburgh in 1 hour. The studio features an open plan sleeping/ living area with a kitchen.

The Shipping Container, Springwell

An ‘Amazing Spaces’ inspired shipping container conversion, set in a peaceful secluded wildlife friendly garden, at the foot of the Pennine hills. The container is a 5 minute walk from the picturesque Talkin village which has a friendly pub serving food. A woodburning stove (logs supplied) ensures the container stays cosy in all weathers. It makes an excellent base to explore Hadrian's Wall, the North Lakes and the Eden Valley.. or a perfect stop off point on your way to or from Scotland.

Our new handcrafted shepherds hut has en-suite facilities and underfloor heating. It has an enclosed patio with seats and a chiminea. We are situated in a very quiet part of Northumberland with excellent walking and cycling from site. The Pennine way is a field away, we have disused railway lines with viaduct and riverside walks. Nearby is the market town of Alston, Penrith and the north lakes, Barnard Castle in Teasdale. Stanhope in Weardale. Hadrian's wall, Hexham, Brampton and Carlisle

The Rookery

After much research, I think this cottage was likely built somewhere in the 1500's. It has quirky uneven walls, VERY LOW BEAMS (TAKE CARE) upstairs made from sailing ships that travelled the world. There's no kitchen, but is a dining room with small fridge, microwave, air fryer, sink, kettle, crockery, cutlery and tea making things. *DOGS* Please keep dogs off the bed and furniture as the dog hairs just spread over everything in the washing machine.

The cottage is in a remote and secluded location. Within walking distance of the award winning Kirkstyle Inn. On a quiet hill top, next to farmhouse, stunningly situated with spectacular views up the valley. Surrounded by moorland, woods, waterfalls, riverbanks. On the Pennine Way, one mile from the Kirkstyle Inn, Alston 7 mile drive or walk and steam train! Sainsbury's and Boots (supermarket and pharmacy) 7 miles in Haltwhistle.
