The Treehouse: Off-grid Retreat

Shaded in a canopy of macrocarpa trees at the base of Mt Taranaki national park, The Treehouse is a grown-up childhood sanctuary. Built from recycled materials, a repurposed spiral staircase takes you up the multiple levels of The Treehouse to a secluded living space nestled between the trees. Kick back in the canopy, swoop on the swings or shoot down the slide. This self-contained treehouse is powered by renewable energy and is only a short drive to New Plymouth, local beaches and the mountain.

Their endeavors included the construction of a tunnel, in 1924, at the rear of the property to provide access to timber on the Whangamomona Saddle where it still remains today. Local shopping centre with supermarket, chemist and library are 10mins walk/5mins drive from the house. We are a 5mins drive from NP airport/10mins drive to New Plymouth CBD and approx 30mins drive to Mt Taranaki. Walking distance to Bell Block Beach and the scenic Coastal Walkway from Bell Block to NP in an hour. Great for a weekend/short visit to the region.

Guest room separate to the main house. Its a large studio room with en-suite. We're out in the country on a large lifestyle block, only 5mins from Inglewood which is a great little town, and 20mins from New Plymouth. Its a peaceful spot with a great view of Mt Taranaki from our garden. Our place is shared with 2 dogs (outside dogs), 3 cats (probably wouldn't see them), chickens and cattle on the farm From Sept - Oct we have lambs that are being hand fed. :-)
