Multnomah Zen, a four waterfall scenic hiking experience
Multnomah Falls and other waterfalls and vistas of the Columbia Gorge are astonishing icons of geology, the sort that have inspired mythology and lore of warriors, gods and passions. We will drive out in our vans to meet the tallest waterfall in the state, and then drive to a few of the shorter but even more stunning ones, too; falls which could only be the daughters and sons of legend. In this half-day experience, we will explore wonders with some short hikes (totaling less than 2.5 miles/4 km) and visits to overlooks and vistas that will have you gasping in awe. While Multnomah Falls and its iconic Benson Bridge are together the most-visited tourist attraction in the Portland area, they are only a part of our experience. We will meet at our shop in inner SE Portland, where we'll ride in our comfortable Sprinter and Transit vans to the nearby gorge. Depending on weather conditions, we will visit a few small hidden waterfalls and spectacular plunge-style falls whose columnar basalt has us learning words for "amazing" in other languages. We'll also tell you stories, geology, botany and oft-repeated tales of pioneers and road-builders, but also the old stories we've learned, of gods and wild spirits and about the oldest North American civilization, forever altered by “manifest destiny." Please note we book directly as well as through AirBNB, and your group may be up to 10.

Downtown Portland Coffee & Donut Tour
Jumpstart your morning with a huge variety of coffee and donuts across 4-5 mouthwatering stops where each bite and sip was crafted right here in Portland. Along the way, immerse yourself in quirky history while exploring Downtown Portland. We like to think this the perfect way to discover Downtown Portland, see where locals get their coffee and donut fix, and have fun! Tour highlights: - Get an expert-led demonstration on the art of pour-over coffee at a cafe which uses cutting-edge technology to guarantee perfection. - Portland has over 75 locally owned donut shops, and we’ll sample a selection of the best from our favorite, which (depending on the rotating menu) may include buttermilk bars, lavender glaze, and mochi. - Stand in Pioneer Courthouse Square and learn all about “Portland’s Living Room”. - The nitro cold brew trend started here, and the perfect place to try this creamy and smooth brew poured straight from the tap is at Portland’s most celebrated roaster. - At the coziest Portland hole-in-the-wall café, indulge in a traditional macchiato paired with a homemade French pastry. - End your morning with a specialty latte alongside fresh donuts and pastries at a family-run Downtown staple. - Plus much more! Note: We do not visit Voodoo or Blue Star during this tour as they are on the common tourist track – instead we keep it local.

Gold-Leaf Photography Gilding Workshop
Turn your photographs into stunning works of art by applying metal leaf. Working with your photographs from your phone or digital camera we will upload them to my computer, open them in Adobe Lightroom, convert them to black and white, and crop them into squares. Then in the computer we will adjust the contrast and boost the detail, and print them on transparent vellum paper. In the next step we will apply a special adhesive to the back of the vellum and attach the metal leaf, I generally have imitation gold (copper and zinc), silver, and copper leaf to choose from. When they are dry we will seal the metal and treat the vellum with a special fixer, at this point you will have some amazing art. Your work will be suitable for gifts and for display. Prior to the experience you can send me a few images that you might want to use in the workshop, you will want something that translates well into black and white, something with nice detail, and rich blacks. Landscapes, architecture, and nature work well, as do pets and family photos. Whatever you choose we will perform the final adjustments in the studio. Each guest will complete 2 unique images. I have matting supplies available for a small additional fee. This is a relatively easy process, I will send you home with the materials list and step by step instructions. This activity is great for groups.
Fragrance Design Workshop
We’ll introduce you to the process and materials that comprise fragrance creation. We'll spend about half the workshop smelling our way through a selection of over 45 raw ingredients, while discussing fragrance and blending techniques. You'll spend the remainder of the workshop developing and blending your own fragrance, with tips and pointers along the way. After this, you'll turn your fragrance into a 10mL oil-based roll-on personal fragrance. You’ll take home your very own scent creation compounded and mixed into a 10mL roll-on bottle of perfume. Other things to note: Avoid wearing strong fragrances to this workshop as it may disrupt yours' and others' olfactory experience.
