We are renting a beautiful self-contained, one bedroom home. It has a big living room with stunning views of the valley and loads of natural light. Fully fitted kitchen, bathroom with power shower and bath. Separate bedroom with twin beds. Broadband WiFi is available 24 hours a day
The area surrounding the house is one of natural beauty. Horse riding is available 5 minutes away at Laxnes Horse farm. Easy to access long walks or rides so perfect for outdoorsy people who want to explore the local scenery.
The house is well situated to explore the whole island, 20 minutes to Iceland´s National Park, Thingvellir, and 40 mins drive to the Blue Lagoon. Iceland´s main ring road to access the whole island is a matter of minutes away.
A short drive away there are supermarkets, post office, library, hairdressers, a choice of 2 geothermal heated swimming pools with slides and hot pots, fun for kids, and the most wonderful bakery with mouthwatering breads, cakes and chocolate. There is also a cluster of shops, cafes, Icelandic wool shop and artisans workshops, which are fun to visit.
This lovely valley was the home of writer Halldór Laxness, the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1955. His home, Gljúfrasteinn, has now become a museum which you can visit and on occasion enjoy a Sunday afternoon concert.
Having a car during your stay is necessary if you are going to explore further than the immediate area. There is a limited bus service to Reykjavik.
It´s a wonderful opportunity to experience the natural beauty of this country. We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to Iceland.
