Please share the rest of the Warehouse, the kitchen and outside deck with me.
The Warehouse was originally built in the 1970s as a juice factory. The single storey building has since been extensively renovated. The Warehouse is a contemporary space with a large lounge/dining room, generous kitchen and bi-fold doors leading to a deck overlooking beautiful Borthwick Park, giving it a rural outlook only 5 km from the city centre.
Central Adelaide is only a 10 minute drive/25 minute cycle from Kensington, or around 15 minutes by bus.
John has owned the Warehouse for eleven years. Gas heaters keep the space warm in winter and evaporative cooling in the main warehouse, keeps the building cool in summer. The bedroom and TV lounge both have overhead fans.
The Bedroom and Bathroom
The bedroom is quiet with a queen sized bed, fresh white linen sheets, an overhead fan and a bookcase full of reading material. Plenty of storage/hanging space is available in the adjacent walk-through wardrobe that connects with the private en-suite bathroom with shower, basin and WC. Handwash, towels and a hair-dryer are provided.
Adjoining lounge/TV room
Your private lounge has a sofa, TV and a desk for your laptop or tablet. There is an overhead fan. Sliding doors close this area off from the rest of the house.
With its stand of fine old River Red Gums, the park is home to nesting pairs of Rainbow and Musk Lorikeets as well as a Kookaburras and other birds that come in to drink at the Warehouse deck. A community biodiversity project is returning many of Kensington’s original native plant species to the park and it's great to see the smaller birds like honeyeaters and pardalotes now coming into to drink on the Warehouse wall. You may also get a glimpse of possums at night as they scale the trees.
Around the area
Kensington is one of Adelaide’s most historic ‘villages’ and was laid out in a unique diagonal grid pattern in the 1850s. A number of significant heritage buildings remain, including the Rising Sun Hotel in Bridge Street.
Guests have access to the rest of the warehouse including use of the kitchen (a guest fridge is provided for any supplies you may bring with you), washing machine and ironing facilities etc. Under cover clothes line or racks available.
Off street parking is available for one car.
I respect the privacy of guests but am also happy to chat and to advise on plans and itineraries around Adelaide.
The Warehouse is my home and I love it. I am usually home and available to guests but occasionally I may be out of town. If my possible absence is an issue please let me know before you book.

Ask me about the many places to visit around Adelaide: from our museum, art gallery and zoo to the beaches, wine areas and hills. I am a keen mountain bike rider and walker and can point you towards the trails where you will see koalas and kangaroos.
Check in time is flexible. If you would like to arrive in the morning please let me know. If I have guests checking out your room may not be ready until after lunch but at least you can drop off bags and collect a key.
Please provide Driver's Licence or other ID on arrival.
Smokers are welcome to smoke outside on the deck.
No meals or hot food in the suite please.
I enjoy creative, musical and social activities and sharing the house with like-minded people.
I'm single and a non-smoker. I eat mostly vegies, occasional fish (and chocolate). I try to stay fit by mountain biking, bushwalking and yoga. I enjoy camping and birdwatching.
I facilitate a revegetation project in the park over my fence. We have planted over 4 000 indigenous plants since 2010.
In 2014 I performed my show 'An Elephant in the Room' in over 21 performances at the Adelaide and Edinburgh Fringe festival, playing double bass and singing provocative musical comedy.
I have two grown-up married daughters and five grandchildren.
