Escape to the beautiful wilderness of the North Cornish coast, close to Port Isaac & Polzeath. Stay in a handcrafted shepherd's hut with curved ash beams & Salamander wood burner on a converted railway line. Relax in your own private hot tub with only the local cows for company. Or explore the nearby woods, go swimming, fishing & boating on the magical freshwater lake. A perfect break for couples or a solo traveller wanting to unwind. For updates check "Free Range Escapes" on social media
The shepherd's hut is based at Cornish Tipi Holidays/Weddings also known as Tregildrans Quarry and this is our beautiful second hut at this unique site. Both huts have their own individual character, the biggest difference is that Bluebell hut has its own wood fired couples hot tub - perfect for relaxing in style in the great outdoors. The site has a woodland valley folded around a clear, spring-fed lake created from the old quarry. The hut is at the top of a secret 20 acres clothed in ferns and bluebells, oak and meadowsweet. Undisturbed by modern agrochemicals and herbicides the natural ecosystem has flourished, providing a thriving habitat for flowers and butterflies, birds and mammals. It’s a place a world apart from the rush and clutter of the modern holiday experience, with an atmosphere that makes you forget the world outside, and just lounge, ramble, or potter about in a boat. The Shepherd's Hut itself is situated in a recently reclaimed part of the site on the old railway line which was taken out in the 60's, reclaimed by nature until now! Guests will have full access to the whole site & all its faculties. 20 acres of woodland to explore and a freshwater lake to swim, boat and fish in. As well as your own secluded garden space complete with an open fire and garden furniture & couples wood fired hot tub. The shepherds hut has its own private compositing loo and wooden shower shed (made partly from pallets) both outside. You are of course allowed full access to any of the other loo/shower blocks on site. There is also electricity!! Solar powered lights & USB sockets make it easy to charge items or read a book after the sun goes down. However please be aware that there are not any standard plug sockets in the hut. The aim is to have created a space which makes you feel like you are out in nature & the elements but with more comfort than basic camping.
At Free Range Escapes you are a five minute drive from some of the prettiest villages and most spectacular coastline in Cornwall. You can buy fresh mackerel, scallops and crab in the fish cellars at Port Isaac within 10 minutes of leaving your Shepherd's Hut, go sea kayaking under soaring cliffs at Port Quin or take a surfing class on Polzeath’s trend setting shoreline. We have some phenomenal walking right on our doorstep; the Cornwall Coastal Footpath, the Saints’ Way, but unfortunately a car is still usually needed to get you there. 15 minutes up the coast brings you to Tintagel Castle and the ancient village of Boscastle, and the same distance inland lets you walk the rugged solitude of Bodmin Moor. We have a variety of good shops, pubs and restaurants in the area including the now nationally famous Seafood Restaurant in Padstow – book a return with the late water taxi across the moonlit estuary from Rock for a special evening out. You can go on fishing trips, bird watching walks, sea safaris, sailing and windsurfing courses, learn to ride, golf, play tennis, see a touring theatre production, work in watercolours, take a master class in seafood cookery, explore Cornish history, attend a music or literary festival, or just go cycling together on the beaufiful Camel Trail nearby. If you’re prepared to go a little further afield try a day trip by tiny plane to the glorious Isles of Scilly off Land’s End, or a trip to the Minack Theatre set outside on the cliffs high above Porthcurno, or closer by visit the massive biodomes of the ever popular Eden Project.

'Captain's Cabin' is a great base for exploring the incredible North Cornish coastline or relaxing on the decking with a good book and our homemade cream tea! You can walk across the meadows to Tintagel Castle, village pubs & cafes galore! Explore the lane up to National Trust land and the dramatic coastpath where you can head southwest for 3/4 of a mile to Trebarwith Strand or head in the other direction to Bossiney Beach, Rocky Valley & famous Boscastle Harbour.
Captain's Cabin is a unique and cosy hideaway set in the large garden of the main house. It is very comfortable with a good quality mattress on a king-sized bed & an en-suite with a large, hot shower and a walk in wardrobe. There is WIFI in the cabin, a TV, a small fridge and tea making facilities. The Cabin has private use of very simple kitchen facilities (fridge, freezer, microwave, single hob etc) which are available in the separate barn (which can be cold!). There is ample parking available at the main house & it is a level walk across the grass to the cabin.
Trevillick is a quiet, tucked away hamlet 1/2 a mile from Tintagel. Along with a stunning sea view in many directions, it is also surrounded by the most beautiful countryside and has direct access down a dusty (or muddy!) track to stunning National Trust land and footpaths in every direction! Tintagel is a small and friendly village which is famously linked to the legend of King Arthur. Don't forget to grab a pasty at Pengenna's! The most delicious and largest pasties known to man! Tintagel Castle and the beach is around a 1 mile walk from the cabin along the dramatic coastline. From here you can also walk to Trebarwith Strand, Bossiney Bay, Rocky Valley, Boscastle and beyond! There are also gorgeous places to visit in a car such as Port Isaac, the famous fishing village, which is a 20 minute drive and Wadebridge, a lively hub where you can hire bikes and cycle along the camel trail to Padstow, a snazzy fishing port.
• Güzel kaldığınız için teşekkür ederiz! Sahili keşfetmek harika bir hafta sonu geçirdik. Yer temiz, konforlu, sıcak ve muhteşem cliffside yolları ve restoranlara yürüme mesafesinde! Tekrar geri dönmek isteriz :)

Kristen2019-10-13T00:00:00Z

Stay in this hand-crafted Shepherd's hut that is hidden away in Primrose Cottage's beautiful garden. The Shepherd's hut has a toasty wood-burner, comfortable double bed and is self-contained with your own cooking facilities, ensuite bijou bathroom- complete with a shower.
This hut was made using reclaimed materials by myself and my good friend Mike. Since making this hut we have started a business together making shepherd huts called Pumphrey and Weston. In the hut there is a kitchen with single hob, wood burning stove, shower, toilet and basin. The double bee is a comfy memory foam mattress.
St Mabyn is a picturesque Cornish village, with a great pub, shop and church. It is located near to Polzeath, Tintagel, Rock, Port Issac and Padstow. The Eden Project is about a 30 minute drive.

It's possible to visit a different beach every day if you want to explore. For an active holiday there are many activities all within a half hour drive, these include: water skiing; co-steering; surfing; and sea kayaking. The Beech Hut is perfectly placed (6 miles cycling from the Hut) for the camel trail which is 18 miles of almost flat off road cycling where all manor of bikes can also be hired and Rick Steins fish and chips or posher grub will lure you to Padstow. There are also the mountain bike trails at Lanhydrock and Cardinham woods, all of these have excellent cafes and make for a great day out. In fact if it's cafes you're looking for, just ask us for our favourite indie places to go to, or our favourite cycling routes taking in stunning sea views. Slightly further afield, but reached within less than an hours drive are the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the delightful south coast including Fowey and Looe. The north coast of Cornwall is well known for its fine food and sea food. There are 2 Michelin star restaurants in Port Isaac as well as fine dining in Padstow. Having your own transport is essential due to the rural nature of the location. There is no public transport in the village. Sadly the Beech Hut is not suitable for those with limitted mobility due to the spiral staircase up to the bedroom.

Kovva Cabin is a cosy, stylish retreat with private garden just a few miles from the sea in north Cornwall close to Port Isaac and Polzeath. Keep toasty warm by the log burner or enjoy summer evenings toasting marshmallows over the firepit. A few treats will be here to welcome you after your journey. Take a look at our Kovva Cabin Guidebook for ideas of what to do during your stay - click on 'Show guidebook' under the 'Neighbourhood' section of this listing. Find us on Instagram @kovva_cabin
Kovva Cabin is a small but perfectly formed hideaway for two in the Cornish countryside. Situated on the edge of the village you'll be greeted by views across fields to the moors in the distance. A studio set up, the cabin features a living space with sofa, smart TV with direct access to Netflix and Amazon Prime as well as on demand service from the BBC etc., dining furniture, built-in wardrobe, gas central heating and a wood burning stove. There's a Google smart speaker on the wall for music, help and advice. Large windows look out into the garden. The mezzanine bedroom is accessed via a staircase where a comfy kingsize Caspar mattress and pure linen bed sheets should help you enjoy the quiet nights. A Velux roof window looks up into the tree canopy and has a blackout blind. Handy USB charging points are located up there too, along with a wireless lamp to create a warm glow at night. There is limited headroom on the mezzanine and you cannot stand up but it has a soft wool carpet and enough width to make it a comfortable space to relax in. The kitchen is fully equipped for a self-catering holiday with a gas hob over a Neff electric oven, a toaster, fridge with freezer compartment, and the usual collection of saucepans and utensils you would expect to find, including a cafetière for brewing your morning coffee. The bathroom has a carved marble basin sat on top of a teak vanity unit, heated towel rail to keep your Egyptian cotton towels warm and dry, a shower and toilet. Step out onto the covered deck to enjoy the fresh air in all weather. Outside, you have your own garden with patio furniture and a fire pit to toast marshmallows on. Watch birds play in the trees during the day, bats at dusk, and at night, listen out for owls. There's a dedicated off-street parking space and room to store your bikes and surfboards. We also have a beginners surfboard available for guests to borrow - just ask.
Our cute Cornish village is just minutes from the rolling surf of the north Cornish coast. Just a short walk from the cabin and you'll find a traditional pub serving food, a café, the village shop and Post Office, and a butcher. We are close to some fantastic beaches, perfect for a walk, exploring the coast path, or hitting the surf at Polzeath. We'll help you find a quiet cove for lazy summer days. See our Kovva Cabin Guidebook below for inspiration and ideas of what to do during your stay.

My place, a perfect base for exploring North Cornwall just off the A39 is close to Bodmin Moor, the Camel Trail for cycling, the North Devon and Cornwall sections of the South West Coastal Path for hiking and Surfing Beaches like Polzeath and Bude. Easy access to famous locations from television like Port Isaac and Jamaica Inn. There are loads of amazing small farm shops and tea rooms as well as larger destinations like Padstow near by with Rick Steins fish and chips.
The accommodation comprises one double bedroom, a lounge/dinner with freeview television and wifi. A fully equipped newly fitted kitchen with dishwasher. A brand new shower room with underfloor heating. The garden is large and enclosed with patio table and chairs. There is a driveway for off road parking and access to our field for guests with dogs. Also free eggs from our pet chickens (as pictured), and a cream tea on arrival, with enough milk, sugar and teabags to get you started. You'll love my place because of the amazing views up to Rough Tor, the easy access to the whole of North Cornwall and the enclosed garden suitable for dogs. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and furry friends (pets).
The immediate neighbourhood is a small hamlet of around 10 houses and farms, and although the A39 runs through it, the area is very rural and surrounded be fields. Davidstow with its famous creamery is one mile to the east and Camelford with its free parking, shops, pubs and petrol station three miles to the west. Rough Tor is five miles away, the turning is on the left on the way to Camelford, Hilltop Cafe/Farm shop is two miles away, the turning is on the right on the way to Camelford.

The coastal footpath all along this section of coast is just breathtaking and could occupy you for an entire week alone if so desired! Boscastle and Tintagel are within 20 minutes and both are fascinating places to visit. Padstow, the culinary capital of Cornwall, made famous by Rick Stein is half an hour away and there you can rent a bicycle and explore the beautiful Camel Trail along the estuary to Wadebridge and beyond. Why not take the little ferry from Rock across the Camel Estuary to Padstow as an added bonus?!AccommodationGround Floor Only: Sitting room (two sofas, not as pictured), dining room and fully fitted kitchen. Only 6.5 miles away and approximately 10 minutes by car is Port Isaac, tucked away on the North Coast between Padstow and Boscastle. The village has recently been home to the television series 'Doc Martin' with Martin Clunes and both the original and latest series of Poldark were also filmed around the area. Much of the village is 18th and 19th century and a wonderful place to explore. Port Isaac is a maze of narrow lanes and pathways known as "drangs" with only one through road and traffic is discouraged. As with many places in Cornwall, Port Isaac once relied heavily on fishing and fish processing, yet these days the village now caters for many visitors with plenty of shops and eateries. Fish may also be bought from the local fish merchants in the fish cellars by the harbour. There are also the usual art and craft shops.12 miles south is Bodmin, the former county town of Cornwall for many years and the only Cornish town to be recorded in the Domesday Book, which was lodged in the town's prison during the First World War. The county prison is now a museum and open to the public. It was the first prison in the country to have separate cells. The oldest part of the town is made up of mainly granite buildings clustered around the Bodmin Beacon. The Beacon is a 144 feet tall obelisk in memory of Sir Walter Raleigh Gilbert. The area around the Beacon which has woodland and traditional hay meadow was declared a Local Nature Reserve in 1994.Nearby Bodmin Moor, bisected by the newly expanded A30 is home to one of Cornwalls Areas of Oustanding Natural Beauty. Reaching a height of 1,377 feet above sea level at Brown Willy, Cornwalls highest point. The heather covered granite moorland provides East Cornwall with the most stunning country views and rugged walks. Near Blisland you will find two of Cornwalls stone circles, the Trippet Stones and Stripple Stone Henge and just round the corner, one end of the famous Camel Trail. The 18 mile Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths, providing a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge out to Padstow, eminently suitable for families.Padstow is a charming fishing village at the head of the Camel Estuary. It has some lovely sandy beaches and at least 7 bays within 5 minutes drive. It is the start or end point of The Camel Trail depending on your point of view. The 17-mile trail is flat and runs between Padstow & Wenford Bridge along the disused and resurfaced railway line. Bikes are available for hire. Padstow, now famous for being home to Rick Steins The Seafood Restaurant, amongst other properties the celebrity chef owns in the town. From Padstow you could take a boat trip across the Camel Estuary to Rock, and lounge on the beautiful beach that stretches all the way around to Daymer Bay. The National Lobster Hatchery neighbours Rick Stein's empire in Padstow. It is also a good base for exploring the South West Coastal Footpath, which covers its rugged coastline, and from which beautiful coves and spectacular views are worth seeing. Various water sports, fishing and golf are all on your doorstep.Boscastle situated on rugged North Coast of Cornwall, has an incredibly picturesque tiny natural port. Once a thriving port, at the base of a ravine, serving North Cornwall, the village now survives on its tourism industry. The disastrous floods of 2004, unfortunately damaged some historic properties, but Boscastle is most definitely up and running again now. The Witchcraft Museum re-opened in 2005, houses an extensive collection of related artefacts including a Dutch collection donated to the museum in 2000. There are many gift shops and cafe's in the village, as well as a pottery, with amazing coastal walks and views to each side of the valley. On the north side of the harbour at Penally Point is a natural blow hole, which at low tides with enough swell sends plumes of water high into the air. There is a fabulous 7 mile walk between Boscastle and Crackington Haven is extremely popular, although it is quite a testing length of coastline. Many sites of interest surround Boscastle with lots to explore. Nearby Tintagel and a ruined castle heralds myths of King Arthur, with Camelford rumoured to be Camelot of old.

Honeysuckle Cottage is situated about a mile from St Tudy a quaint Cornish village, the church around which the village was built was first constructed in the 6th century and then rebuilt in the 11th, 15th and latterly 19th centuries, the village has been built around the original Celtic circular raised graveyard - known locally as "God's Acre!" St Tudy is believed to be the birthplace of Captain Bligh of the "Mutiny on the Bounty" fame! The St Tudy Inn (formerly the Cornish Arms) will welcome you in for a refreshing drink, a hearty meal or both!Wadebridge was originally a market town. It has an amazing 15th century bridge with 17 arches over the River Camel, which is definitely worth a visit. It is said the bridge was built on wool as this was how the wealthy landowners in the area made their money. From the day the bridge was built the town became known as Wadebridge. The Royal Cornwall Show ground at Wadebridge hosts the county show every June, come rain or shine, opened each year by a member of the Royal Family. Cornish Farmers have had to diversify in recent years and so has the show, but they have kept their traditional roots with steam engines being shown next to the shiny new high-tech tractors. It's not every day you get to see formation JCB digger dancing in the main ring. Both Wadebridge and nearby Camelford are centrally located in order to explore the nearby hills and moors. Wadebridge is the perfect base, being the half way point, from which to discover the Camel Trail, a walk and cycle track following the old railway route from Bodmin to Padstow. There is wonderful scenery and plenty of wildlife, including fantastic sightings of wading birds to see on this serene trail and bikes can be hired from Bodmin, Wadebridge or Padstow. From Padstow you could take a boat trip across the Camel Estuary to Rock, and lounge on the beautiful beach that stretches all the way around to Daymer Bay. The National Lobster Hatchery neighbours Rick Steins empire in Padstow. The National Trust have three properties nearby, Lanhydrock House, Trerice and Carnewas and the dramatic cliffs and beach at Bedruthan Steps. Or if you fancy something different try a tour around the Camel Valley Vineyard, Cornish Wine has been growing in stature around the world and their sparkling wines are truly stunning, having picked up lots of international awards, go for a tasting you will not be disappointed!Bodmin Moor is a couple of miles away to the East and is dominated by large granite tors which tower over sweeping expanses of moorland. Bodmin Moor has engendered fear and awe throughout history and hence provided inspiration for writers, poets and sculptors. Standing stones, burial chambers, clapper bridges cottages and farms across the moor give a hint of the 4000 years of human development ever since Bronze Age farmers first arrived.Port Isaac is about 4 miles to the North West and this has recently been the base of filming for "Doc Martin" with Martin Clunes, there are a good selection of cafes shops and pubs. Further up the coast there are all of the golden beaches and coves between Polzeath and Tintagel with some of the best surf in Europe.Bodmin lies a few miles to South West and has a large selection of supermarkets, shops and restaurants.

Trethevy is a delightful hamlet, equidistant from Boscastle and Tintagel and has a history which may well go back to 250 AD when a granite post was inscribed with C DOMI N GALLO ET VOLUS – ‘For the Emperor Caesars our lords Gallus and Volusian' this can now be found outside St Piran a former monastery and now private residence, Trethevy is also home to St Nectans Glen a beautiful valley where the River Trevillet has carved its way through the slate and formed a beautiful 60' waterfall.Boscastle is a tiny port set in a narrow ravine, the town came into prominence recently as a result of terrible floods in the summer of 2004. There is a pottery in the village and several gift shops. A footpath to the left of the quayside will take you to the 'Lookout' which is a wonderful vantage point from which to view the rugged coastline. Boscastle was once a favourite meeting place of the author Thomas Hardy, and is the location for one of his novels 'A Pair of Blue Eyes'. Boat trips can be taken from the harbour as far as Long Island, where during the breeding season you may see razorbills, puffins & guillemots. There is a demanding 7 mile coastal path walk between Boscastle and Crackington Haven. There are several attractions along this stretch of coast including Strangles beach at the bottom of a large landslip with a rock arch the Northern Door. Just south of here is High Cliff which is the highest point on the Cornish coast path. Don't forget to visit Pentargon inlet which has an imposing waterfall that cascades down to the sea below. On Bodmin Moor, Dozmary pond is thought to contain Arthur's Excalibur, and Merlin is thought to be still found walking under Tintagel Island. Camelford is a great centre for touring, walking, fishing, swimming or surfing holidays. The town is steeped in history and has excellent shopping and sporting facilities. Port Isaac is the location of the televisions series Poldark and more recently Doc Martin, as well as being a gorgeous working fishing village. Bodmin Jail built in 1778, notorious for its public executions by hanging, was the first jail to be built housing inmates in individual cells. The Jail closed in 1927 and is now a museum open to the public, which during the First World War housed the Crown Jewels and the Doomsday Book. The famous Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths for 18 miles, providing the whole family with a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge, and out to Padstow where you can sample Rick Steins famous Fish and Chips. The market town of Launceston is the capital of Cornwall and well worth a visit to see the church of St Mary Magdelene, with granite carvings, unusual among Cornish churches.

GREAT FOR EXPLORERS – If you enjoy visiting quaint fishing villages like Port Isaac – where Dr Martin is filmed, Padstow or Fowey – Daphne DeMaurier’s old haunt then this is a good base to explore from.
Blisand is in the heartland of North Cornwall, Bodmin Moor, where you will find hundreds of miles of trails and where herds of wild ponies roam free. Bodmin Moor is littered with Neolithic sites and mysterious stone circles. Because of our central Cornwall location we are near both the North and South coasts so if you love surfing head North to Polzeath or Newquay or if you prefer a gentler seaside experience head south to explore the coves and villages around Fowey and Mevagissey. If you are a fan of Doc Martin and Poldark lots of filming sites are within easy reach of us such as Port Isaac the location of fictional Port Wenn and Poldark's house is up on the moor only 3 miles from us. If your kind of holiday involves roaring fires and good food there are many wonderful pubs and restaurants near us and I am happy to make recommendations.

This small but atmospheric cottage is just a few steps from the harbour in the heart of the famous village of Port Isaac. The living room / diner and separate kitchen are both limited in size and headroom but that is all part of the charm of staying in a cottage such as this in the middle of such a wonderful village. The bedrooms are both twins (due to the difficulty of getting large furniture upstairs) and located on the first and second floor. Stepping out of the stable door onto Middle Street is like stepping into pure Cornwall! A lovely narrow lane leading to the charming harbour and beach that Port Isaac is so famous for. The Slipway Hotel, the pubs, the coffee shops and of course Doc Martin's house are all here. Please bear in mind that Fisherman's Cottage is an old cottage with narrow steep stairs, low ceilings and of limited size. Accommodation Ground Floor: Compact living room and dining room. Small fully fitted kitchen. First Floor: Twin bedroom and bathroom. Second Floor: Twin bedroom with sea glimpses from the window. Facilities & Services Heating is via night storage heaters. Miscellaneous Electricity, heating, bed linen & towels are all included but you will need to provide your own beach towels. Regrettably no smoking or dogs are allowed. Port Isaac, tucked away on the North Coast between Padstow and Boscastle, has recently been home to the television series 'Doc Martin' with Martin Clunes. Although previous years have seen the series Poldark film here and in nearby Port Quinn. Much of the village is 18th and 19th century and there a wonderful narrow streets and alleyways to explore. It is a maze of narrow lanes and pathways known as "drangs" with only one road through, along which traffic is discouraged. The houses are traditional stone built, slate hung cottages. As with many places in Cornwall, once having relied heavily on fishing and fish processing, the village now caters for many visitors with plenty of shops and eateries for the frequent visitors. In the heart of the village are a pub, two hotels, two cafe / bistros. There are other pubs and a cafe at the top of the village. There is a bakery, delicatessen, fishmongers and a well stocked Coop supermarket. Fish may also be bought from the local fishmerchants in the fish cellars by the harbour. There are also the usual art and craft shops. Those interested in fishing may hire a local boat and fisherman. Kayaking may also be arranged in the village. The National Trust coastal path runs through the village and provides spectacular walks over the cliffs. Many places of interest are in easy reach: Pencarrow House, Tintagel, The Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan along with many others. Padstow is close by with its many restaurants and attractions. It can be visited by the foot ferry from Rock and trips may be made out to sea, with puffins on the nearby islands at the right time of year. At Rock there are excellent beaches and boats may be hired from the sailing school along with windsurfers. Other good sandy beaches are at Polzeath and Trebarwith, both of which cater for windsurfing. There is also Daymer Bay, a famous windsurfing spot. From Daymer, it is just a short walk to St. Enedoc church where Sir John Betjeman is buried. Wadebridge has shops of interest and makes a pleasant wander round.

Our little cottage is pretty tiny but very cosy. In through the stable door is a kitchen then front room. Slate floors throughout the downstairs. The wood burner will keep you warm and a selection of games or a tv. Up the fairly steep narrow wooden stairs to the bedroom and bathroom with shower over the bath. Well behaved dogs welcome although the garden is not fenced.
Camelford Cottage is slightly quirky and rustic. The old slate floors are rather cold so bring your slippers! The garden is small and not fenced but fine for any dog parent who's happy to take their dog out on a lead before enjoying the country/beach walks. There's a small decking area. No bbqs please, bbq space is available at the local Enfield Park. The cottage is very old and a bit drafty but the cosy woodburner downstairs and heaters upstairs will keep you warm......winter guests add warm pjs and a hot water bottle to your 'to pack' list. There is a small fold up bed available if a 3rd bed is required. The cottage is set back from the road up a couple of steps and along a slate flagged path. This is a shared path. Through the stable door you step up one step into the kitchen.
Camelford is a small old market town with a few shops, pubs, takeaways and cafe with the river camel runs through it. Ideally located for exploring the north cornish coast and the surrounding moorland. Within the local area is Rough Tor, Port Isaac, Tintagel, Boscastle, beaches, Crowdy Reservoir, Wadebridge to name just a few fantastic places.

The name Lesnewth is of Cornish origin and means 'New Court' that is 'a chieftan's estate'. Some of the oldest buildings of Lesnewth include the Church, the Rectory & the Mill. The village is situated approximately 2 miles east of Boscastle and 6 miles east of Tintagel.

Boscastle is a tiny port set in a narrow ravine, the town came into prominence recently as a result of terrible floods in the summer of 2004. In the village there is a pottery, a museum of witchcraft and several gift shops.

Trethevy is a delightful hamlet, equidistant from Boscastle and Tintagel and has a history which may well go back to 250 AD when a granite post was inscribed with C DOMI N GALLO ET VOLUS – ‘For the Emperor Caesars our lords Gallus and Volusian’ this can now be found outside St Piran a former monastery and now private residence, Trethevy is also home to St Nectans Glen a beautiful valley where the River Trevillet has carved its way through the slate and formed a beautiful 60' waterfall.

Idyllically situated on a river bank in a small and private complex, tucked away in the Cornish countryside about 7 miles from the rugged North Cornwall coast, with its beautiful tors, coves and beaches. This location brings all that Cornwall has to offer within easy reach. Walkers, Hikers and Cyclists are spoilt for choice of footpaths, such as ‘The Saints Way' and the Coastal Path ranging both north and south. Alternatively up Roughtor onto Bodmin moor, and see the remains of its pre-historic settlements.Or just drive to the coast, for a boat/sea-fishing trip from Boscastle and Padstow. See nearby Port Isaac where Doc Martin is filmed. Visit the locations used in the filming of Poldark. Or to Tintagel and its castle. To the north Bude and Clovelly, to the South Newquay, St Ives, Lands-end, Porthcurno the Minack Theatre, St Michaels Mount and much, much more.Camelford is an ancient market town situated on the River Camel. Its name was believed to have been a contraction of 'Camalanford' from 'cam' meaning crooked, 'alan' meaning beautiful and ford. The town lies on the edge of Bodmin Moor and is about 6 miles inland from the rugged North Cornwall coast. Legend has it that King Arthur and his Knights are part of cornish history, and that Camelford was the 'Camelot' of legend. Further up the coast, towards England, are the towns of Tintagel, Boscastle, Crackington Haven and Bude while to the South West are Port Isaac, Polzeath, Wadbridge and Padstow. All of these have excellent pubs and restaurants and of course you are never far away from a glorious sandy beach (quite a few of which allow dogs all year round!) Park Lodge 9 is situated 1/2 a mile from St Tudy a quaint Cornish village, the church around which the village was built was first constructed in the 6th century and then rebuilt in the 11th, 15th and latterly 19th centuries. The village has been built around the original Celtic circular raised graveyard - known locally as "God's Acre!" St Tudy is believed to be the birthplace of Captain Bligh of the "Mutiny on the Bounty" fame! The St Tudy Inn (formerly the Cornish Arms) will welcome you in for a refreshing drink, a hearty meal or both! Bodmin Moor is a couple of miles away to the East and is dominated by large granite tors which tower over sweeping expanses of moorland. Bodmin Moor has engendered fear and awe throughout history and hence provided inspiration for writers, poets and sculptors. Standing stones, burial chambers, clapper bridges cottages and farms across the moor give a hint of the 4000 years of human development ever since Bronze age farmers first arrived.Port Isaac is about 6 miles to the North West and this has recently been the base of filming for "Doc Martin" with Martin Clunes, there are a good selection of cafes shops and pubs. Further up the coast there are plenty of golden beaches and coves stretching between Polzeath and Tintagel with some of the best surf in Europe.Bodmin lies a few miles to South West and has a large selection of supermarkets, shops and restaurants.Rock is situated on the Camel Estuary opposite the town of Padstow. The estuary is alive in the summer with all manner of boats including windsurfers and water skiers. If you don't fancy venturing out on the water there are fine walks across to Braey Hill and further to St Endoc Church (the last resting place of Sir John Betjemen) where there are stunning views across to Doom Bar and Stepper Point. The mile long sandy beach stretches all the way to Daymer Bay at low tide and as there are no waves in Rock it is ideal for swimming. Rock is reputed to be home to more millionaires than anywhere else in Cornwall and it comes as no surprise that it also boasts a Michelin starred restaurant, the Black Pig. A foot ferry is able to take you across to the incredibly popular Padstow or 'Padstein' as it is nicknamed due to the amount of Rick Stein's food venues on offer. It is here that you can hire a bike and cycle along the Camel Trail if you fancy.Polzeath is a small seaside resort about 6 miles north of Wadebridge and is known to have one of the best surfing beaches in Cornwall. This long sandy beach combined with Atlantic swells provides ideal conditions with which to improve your surfing skills. The beach is prefect for families, there are lifeguards on duty and the village has a number of restaurants, pubs and cafes to cater for your needs. The coastal path passes through Polzeath to Daymer Bay and Rock in one direction and New Polzeath and Pentire Point in the other. There are miles of beautiful coastline where dolphins can sometimes be spotted and this is a wonderful area for birds such as puffins, kittiwakes and gannets.

Kesinlikle tavsiye ederim!

Our ground floor garden room is duel aspect and spacious with its own bathroom (with a good over bath shower) and private entrance. We can sleep 2 in a king size bed for the current listing price and there is a single bed available for an extra £10 per night. If you would like to use both beds in the room and there are only two people, there is a supplement of £5 to help with our laundry costs. The room is large enough to accommodate a travel cot / crib . We don't charge extra for a baby and can provide a travel cot if needs be. If you are a family with younger children, we are very accommodating and understanding - we have three of our own after all! Our home is an 'L' shape and the guest room is at the far end of one part of the 'L' on the other side of our 30ft kitchen / family room. Please note that although the room has its own private entrance and bathroom, it is not in a separate building. As this is an Airbnb home-stay you will be warmly welcomed into our family and during the day you will have the opportunity to meet our lovely and sometimes lively children. At night it is very quiet as your room is quite separate from our own bedrooms and lounge. We don't suffer from noise pollution here and our guests find that they sleep very well - the comfy bed gets great reviews too! We provide tea and coffee making facilities and a rustic breakfast of freshly baked home made sourdough, a selection of jams and tea or cafetiere coffee which can be eaten in the privacy of your room. The bread I make is good quality artisan bread and like all good things it takes time to make. It is more filling than your average shop bought slice of white and the fermentation process means its a much healthier option. I like to experiment with my sourdough so breakfast can include a mixture of sweet and savoury bread. My current favourite is chocolate, sultana and treacle! If you are looking for a full English breakfast we can recommend cafes in the area that provide this. The room we offer is ideal for anyone who would like a comfortable stay in a friendly home from home environment. We are a down to earth family and like to live in a low impact and low tech way, so if you want to be nourished by nature and get away from it all, this is the place for you! Our home is quirky, well loved and lived in and we guarantee you a very warm welcome and a taste of our life in this idyllic part of Cornwall. Our little hamlet has 8 houses and a very small dairy farm and is situated between the villages of Chapel Amble and St Kew. We don't have a pub of our own, but the surrounding villages do and they serve good food which makes them very popular particularly during the summer months (booking in advance is advisable during this time). Port Isaac (4 miles), Padstow (12.8 miles), Tintagel (9.6 miles), Boscastle (13 miles) are all easily accessible by car. Polzeath beach is our nearest beach and is a 10 minute drive from here and is very popular with surfers. There are several places there where you can hire surf equipment or book lessons. If you want to bring your own surfboard and wet suits we have space to store and dry them. If you are interested in something a bit different, we can provide private meditation sessions to our guests using the healing sound of the medicine drum. We can hold the session in the comfort of our lounge upstairs or in the kitchen if you prefer. Please let us know if you would like to find out more about this when you make your booking. DOGS You are welcome to bring your well behaved and child friendly dog with you (we can only allow one dog as there is limited space in the room). Our local beach Polzeath allows dogs from 1st October through to the start of Easter and there are plenty of dog friendly beaches in Cornwall all year round. Please note that we have three young (dog friendly) children, 4 chickens (in a run) and a cat, so yourdog will need to be happy to be around them. Also our garden is not enclosed and open to grazing fields (cows). There is an additional charge of £5 for your dog. If you would like to bring your dog, please message us first so we can discuss the arrangements and house rules we have in place.
We live in a pretty hamlet of 8 houses about 1 mile outside the village of Chapel Amble and 5 miles from the town of Wadebridge. There is a very small traditionally run dairy farm in the hamlet (with a herd of approximately 20 cows). The cows graze in the fields surrounding us and there are some lovely walks round the lanes where children can enjoy cow 'spotting'. St Kew with its popular St Kew Inn is just over a mile away in one direction and the Maltsters Pub in Chapel Amble is just over a mile in the other direction. Both pubs serve good quality food. Whilst you can walk to them the walks are on single track country lanes, so driving is advisable at night outside of the longer daylight hours. During peak season it is recommended to ring ahead to book a table as both pubs are very popular and get booked up quickly. Please note that we live in a rural area so do not have the facilities of a town or village, however there are shops in Wadebridge (5 miles away) including supermarkets (Tesco, Lidl, Aldi). Wadebridge is a pretty town with plenty of independent shops, cafes and restaurants. There are several good sized car parks to use in town. The Camel trail is fun to cycle along and there are plenty of bike hire companies in Wadebridge town. Rock and Padstow are nearby and there are many beaches and villages to explore in the area.
