Things to do whilst in Edinburgh

Here are a few of my recommended to do activities whilst you are in Edinburgh - however it all depends on what you enjoy and want to get out of your visit to the City.
Take a wonder round the gardens on a nice day to take a break from the City and relax in very tranquil surroundings. Couple of cafes within the gardens to get a coffee or lunch.

If you are interested in history and getting a great view of the City at the same time then take a visit to Edinburgh Castle. You definitely need a couple of hours to make your visit worthwhile. Take a wonder down the Royal Mile exploring the closes off it and enjoy a coffee stop or wine along the way at one of the many bars/cafes. Cockburn Street has some nice non tacky gift shops - Liquorice Tree towards the bottom - if you need to get some gifts.

Fab place to explore and free entry to the main museum. Some touring exhibitions may have a small entrance fee but there is plenty going on that you don't need to pay for. Check out the website to see what is on. Always busy when raining!!

Leith has a vibrant scene of pubs and restaurants that make it worthwhile having a wonder down here. More relaxed than going out in town and recommendations are as follows: Finn & Bear - great for kids too Kings Wark - fab brunch Fishers on the Shore - fish restaurant Roseleaft - cocktails served in teapots, food also available The Royal Yacht Britannia is also docked in Leith so if you are keen on more history then check it out. It is a paid attraction. There is also a market on a Saturday.
