Sightseeing
Set as part of the railway development back in the late 1880s the Cheviot Tunnel is part of the history of the Tallarook to Mansfield Railway now a popular bike, horse and walking track that goes right past Cheviot Station 400m from the cottages.
You can choose to walk the 4kms (8km round trip from Cheviot Station) to the tunnel up a slight gradient or drive along Cheviot Road to the car park just before the tunnel and enjoy the cool walk through the tunnel towards Molesworth and experience the rural setting and the story of the tunnel as told on the information board.
